Well I went for my official weight in today and her scale says a 3 lb. loss my said 3.6!! Hmmm so which weight shall we go with?? I'm going with my AM weight.

So we went over my diet and she does not want me eating anymore than 1100 calories per day. She actually would like me to go w/1000 a day. She also mentioned that 1300 calories is too much and that if I didn't have two days w/that many calories I would have lost more.. Hmmm.. She looked at my food diary and also indicated that the only reason why I lost was because of the other days I ate around900 calories with one day only eating about 758 which compensated for my two days that I ate 1300 calories. I don't agree with her completely. I think if you make a concerted effort to count calories you should be able to have a high calorie day here and there. And when I mean high calorie I mean no more than 1400 not 2000+

So I proceeded to tell her that the pills were not working well with me and that I had to take them later in the day (around 12:30'ish) because by 4pm I was famished, if I took the pill at 10 am. She asked did I want a prescription then? Why would she say that? Which now makes me think a bit more about the whole generic vs. brand issue. I told her no that I will try them out a bit longer and see what happens just as long as it's ok me taking them late in the day. She said since I'm not breaking the pill in half that she will give me a capsule instead. So now I have these blue and white capsules A-167. Are they any different to the white/blue speckle MP-163 pill? Has anyone ever used the blue/white capsule?

The third issue I have is the cost. I pay $40 a week plus $5 for the pills. $45 a week. I'm going to my PCP this Friday (she wants a blood and EKG test done on me). So I'm going to ask him if he can prescribe them to me and monitor me this way insurance will at least pay for the office visit?? He gets the $$ from the insurance and I don't have to pay $40 a week. I may even be able to use my prescription plan too!! Should I try? Why not? The worst he can say is no. But I know what he's going to say oh you look great and why do you want to take them, etc.? (My PCP is this big, husky, Italian guy who I think likes woman with a bit of meat on their bones..quite a funny guy always talks politics with me) anyway just my observation with the comments he made to me last summer about my appearance when I voiced my frustration with not losing weight after all I was doing. He took a look at me and said (which makes me cringe when I hear it) But you're very muscular. Muscle weighs more that fat. What do you want to be this skinny, lollypop head? But I think if I approach it in the right way perhaps I'll be surprised.

If not then I'll just have to suck up $45 a week until I feel I can do the rest on my own.

Ok...I know people are going to comment on the calorie count..but here goes my opinion People get VERY wrapped up in numbers...everyone will say that you need to eat at least 1200 for miminium nutrients and that your body will go into starvation mode. I disagree. I think everyone has their own genetic makeup and that what works for one person may not work for others. I had my BMR tested twice and I know that as I lose weight, that number will change...I compensate by doing exercise. If I didn't love exercise like I do then I would be in serious trouble b/c as I lower my weight and eventually maintain, I will have to eat less calories. If I am eating barely 1200...then can I realistically live on 900 for the rest of my life? Probably not...because there is a cheescake factory near my house But anywoo, Nylon you and I are both short and we would need less calories than say someone who is 5'5 or 5'7. I would pick a number THAT you are comfortable with (that you know you CAN stick with...just not for this short weight loss period)...and then, dare I say...increase the exercise (hard to do sometimes with hectic schedules, family & well, life) If you don't want to exercise, then I say try out the lower number and see. If you eat well and are aware of the foods u eat...I do believe you can be very healthy on less calories.

** As as side note, I mimic my children ...my children eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full. I serve them a little bit of everything...moderate portions. My children are very healthy, hardly ever sick and are at "their" perfect weight according to their doctor. So, if I am not hungry, I do not eat...when I am...I pick something good to eat. I listen to my body

Stay Strong NYLON...u can do this!!!!

Tell your PCP that you're going to do this anyway (the diet and the pills) and if he wrote you the script he'd be doing you a big favor by saving you money. You seem to have a bit of a rapport with him so he might go for it.

I had this long reply typed out earlier and then my computer decided to not want to post itso you are going to get an edited version of the initial reply.

1st - I take the 30 mg blue/clear capsules and think they are better than the 37.5. They are time-released so they stay with you through the day.

2nd - $45.00 a week YIKES!!!! I pay $110.00 every 2 months which is 1 visit and 2 months of phen, I could get 3 months at a time if I wanted and may later on. But $45.00 a week, WOW!!

3rd - If your PCP is like mine he will say nope. Mine wanted to prescribe antidepressants. If I WAS depressed it was because I was overweight so if she would have just given me the phen prescription then my depression would be over with. Any way, I went to the weight loss clinic and it's all good!!

4th and last - 1100 calories? It is do-able but if you are not comfortable with it then do it your way. See what happens 1st when you start the new pills.

Later, Kim

Kscott, Please explain to me the difference in the phentermines. I don't feel the burst of energy. I am taking the 37.5. What is the difference between the long acting, time-release, and immediate release pill?

The immediate release wears off earlier for me than the time-released. I don't have that burst of energy like when I first started phen, I just have the control over eating, which is what I wanted. The clean house the first week was just a bonus (lol)!!

Yes, I know. But I have no other alternative right now other than going back as a "rogue buyer" and well I'd rather not do that. That's why I'm hoping my PCP will be willing to work with me on this issue. It is so important as WE ALL know.

Yes Squeekie ( that screen-name is cute) you're right about the rapport I have with my PCP it's pretty relaxed and I feel at ease with him, so I will see how he reacts on Friday when I ask.

Skinny about the numbers......believe I am a hostage of numbers and I can't stand it. The last time I was on Phen. I became neurotic about the damn number on the scale and would weigh myself everyday. I was obessessed. Not a good thing. I know I need to count calories (and probably for the remainder of my life) but I guess all I can do is see how 1000 calories a day is for me. I tell you one thing in order for me to do a 1000/day I'm gonna have to have Special K for dinner everyday.

But the important part is that WE ARE ALL LOSING!!

ALERT to Nylon. Don't want you to worry, but I can't find MP-163. What kind of pill is that? Could it be MP-168? That is an anti-depressant called Trazodone Hydrochloride .
