Hi all !

I started taking Duromine last Wedsnesday 3/10/07 and for the first few days l had a bit more energy, didn't sleep great but felt OK, although a bit spaced and dippy, which l can handle. On the 5th day, Sunday, l felt very depressed. A few things that had been getting me down suddenly hit me like a brick, l felt terribly low all day, when these problems are rather small and can be dealt with in time. I thought this would only last a day but 3 days later l'm still feeling very low and sad, this is one side effect l'm not sure l can put up with, and it will be noticed at work soon if this doesn't change. I do not want to come off the pills as today, being the 7th day, my trousers were much loser and l feel slimmer (don't have any scales, will be buying some). Can anyone point me in the direction to taking maybe herbal pills that will make me feel better?. As l said, l really want to stay on them, i've got no reason to feel depressed and l've never suffered from depression. Thanks everyone !!

I've never heard of anyone feeling depressed as a direct result of taking these pills. Maybe the problems feel bigger because of them? Or maybe you're coming up on your TOM? Or the lack of sleep may be catching up with you? Maybe it's a combination of all of the above. Have you ever taken phentermine before?

Hi squeekie, thanks for the reply. Yes, l'm due on, in fact, a few days late, but never feel like this. I felt wide awake until the Sunday, so maybe it is lack of sleep making me feel so down. I've never taken phen before but have tried Reductil which initially made me dizzy and couldn't sleep which wore off after a few days. I think as you say, the phen is making my probs bigger, and lack of sleep hasn't helped. I don't know what to do, worried about going to work tomorrow as l felt so low today and didn't want to do anything! :-)

Do you feel you can skip a day and hold your own diet wise? I know you've only been on them a week but if you haven't taken it before it may have been a little too much for you. Are they the 30mg. or the 40mg. of Duromine?
Some people have found that the supplement 5HTP has helped with feelings of depression and it's apparently safe to take at the same time as your phen. Have you ever heard of it?

I may be able to skip tomorrow, but then worried about feeling worse coming off them so if no improvement by the end of the week l will skip Saturday being my day off work and see how l feel. I'm taking 30mg, prescribed them to myself as they are banned in the UK, but have done lots of research to be careful. I have heard of 5HTP through this site, can l get it over the counter?. I'm off to bed now as it's 23.15 here but will check for replies in the morning. Many thanks for your help.

Your right. You don't want to chance feeling really tired at work....who knows how tired that might be! Good idea to not take it on Sat., maybe take the whole weekend off and catch up on some sleep.
The 5HTP is over the counter here, probably there too.
Take care. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Hi dizzy and squeekie - sorry to intrude on your messages, but I was reading this thread and was curious - what is Duromine (sp?) ? I'm not familiar with this..... is it prescription?
Thank you...... Dizzy, how have you been feeling?

Soul, it's a great question! It is one of phentermine's names overseas.

Dizzy, I am concerned not just because you feel depressed but because very often this will make you feel depressed and sad because of the chemical changes within the brain. That has nothing to do with the events you can or can't control or any type circumstances of your day. Either the dose you're on and its depressing effects should level out within a week or it needs tweaking.
Please talk to your doctor about this.

Duromine works on your 'feel good' receptors in the brain. They make you feel hungry or not hungry, satisfied or not, chemically depressed or happy and full of energy... here's hoping tomorrow the heaviness you feel will go away!
