I started Phen 30mg. yesterday morning and it curbed my appetite all day, just as it should have. I had a lot of energy, and no other side effects. I thought it was really going to help.

This morning I drank a Carnation Instant Breakfast and took the Phen 2 hours later, at 10:00am. I had a sandwich for lunch, which filled me up nicely.

But since about 3:00 I've been STARVING. So I ate a banana and then a bit later a low-fat string cheese. I'm starving again and I'm not sure what to eat. I didn't think I would feel so hungry. The first time I took Phen several years ago, it curbed my appetite beautifully for the 2 months I took it.

Am I doing something wrong?

P.S. Okay, I'm eating a can of tuna packed in water. I hope that will help.

Any observations, questions, or advice greatly appreciated.

So, if I'm reading this correctly... you've eaten:

A Carniation Instant Breakfast(100)
A half a sandwich(200-300? if that...)
A Banana(200)
A string cheese(50)

Is that all? If so... you're hungry because you need food.

By my estimation, you've only had about 450-600 calories depending on what type of sandwich you had. You should still try to eat 1,200 calories a day. Your body is trying to tell you it needs nutrients and fuel.

If I've misread, I apologise.

Hi MsMartini,

Today I've had:

1 Carnation Instant Breakfast
1 roast beef and turkey sandwich with mayo and a slice of swiss on 100% whole wheat
1 banana
2 string cheeses (low fat)
1 small can tuna
.....and now....because I'm still very hungry.....
1 Activia fat free yogurt

I.....uh.....thought I was supposed to REALLY cut back how much I eat while I'm taking the Phen, and I thought the Phen would make me not hungry at all.

I don't know how many calories the above comes to, do you have an idea?

So, you're saying I need to be eating more? I'm so confused; i really thought I was supposed to cut w-a-y back on the calories.

sounds to me like what happen to me. I would take mine and then by evening time I was literaly starving cause I had not eaten hardly anything all day. I started eating a good breakfast, then maybe a lite lunch and taking my phen around 12 or 1. It seemed to help with the late evening munchies. But you have to eat!!! I had to force myself to eat even if it was something small. And drinks lots of water.

Hi t,

I can't take it that late or I can't sleep. I had an awful time sleeping last night.....woke up about 8 times and that was with 16mg. Rozerem.

Another problem (?) is I loathe water, so I drink unsweetened tea with Equal in it. During the week I usually drink 64oz. of it per day, but on Sats and Suns I can drink up to 128oz.

This is just an estimation as I don't know the specifics of what you have eaten(brands, etc.)...

Breakfast:
Carnation thing... 240

Lunch:
Sandwich... 487

Dinner:
Tuna... 191
Yogurt... 110

Snacks:
Banana(medium)... 109
2 string cheese... 160

Total for the day: 1,297

The numbers and proportions look good, if you ate all of everything. It just sounded like so little when I looked at it earlier. But then the tuna, yogurt and another string cheese were added after that. Are you still 'starving' or maybe just mildly hungry? The only thing I can think is maybe you were hungry because the majority of your calorie intake was earlier in the day. Maybe spread them out more. Also, the instant breakfast has zero fiber and 20 grams of sugar. I could imagine a let down after the sugar had worn off.

But, everything looks great! Is TOM approaching?

I don't know if this will help you, but I have found that if I eat before I take my phen, I am much hungrier during the day. I take my phen right when I get up (around 6 or 7am) and wait about 1/2 hour (I can tell when the phen kicks in because I get really hot for a few minutes.. lol) until it kicks in. That's when I will eat my breakfast. I am usually not very hungry during the day at all, and have to force myself to eat. Today though, I was really hungry. I have a day like this every so often, but I know that tomorrow will be better.

Maybe you could try just taking the phen before you eat?
