I started taking Phentermine 37.5 last Thursday. So today is my 6th day on the pills. I stay hungry just like I used to. They don't seem to be suppressing my appetite at all. Is that normal? Has anyone ever taken more than just one pill a day? I didn't know if I could take one and a half or something. Please help!!

I have been on phen for a little over 2 weeks. I noticed the first week I was still hungry at times. I do think it takes time for the medication to do it's thing and everyone differs. Now I do notice when I don't drink enough water I feel hungry but I think it's thirst really. I can push away from the table after eating a third of what I used to. I still serve myself the same portion just to see how much I used to eat and what I eat now. This is a big wake up call!

The best thing you can do is take the med consistently everyday around the same time. Take it with at least a full 8oz of water. I normally wait anywhere between 1 hour and 3 hours (depending on my schedule that day) to begin eating. This way the medication has a chance to supress the appetite.

Of course, following the guidelines on this site helps tremendously. Eat small meals 4-6 times a day(eat a carb/protein together), get at least 2 liters to one gallon of water in a day, and do some form of exercise even if it is 10 minutes to begin with.

I found that using dailyplate.com has made food choices easier because you type it in and it tells you calories, fat, carbs, and proteins. I was worried I was eating too much and come to find out I wasn't wasn't eating enough!
Now my protein to carb ratio for one day is 100%+(protein) to 55% (carbs). I think this helps.

Most important, don't give up! The medication is a tool to help you and not the solution. Changing the way you eat/live will in the end be the most important thing!

I satrted almost 2 weeks ago and im not hungry at all! The first 3 days I only had one meal a day. But my doctor said you have to eat in order to loose weight.( sounded weird to me too) But maybe your dosage needs to be a little stronger. Talk to your doctor he will be able to let you know whats best for you to do.

It's just so very frustrating. I thought that taking these pills was going to be really great for me and it's just not working. I stay hungry all the time. I just don't understand. I have a couple of friends that I work with that are taking the same exact pill and their's are working wonderfully. I just don't know what to do now. Are there different types of Phentermine?? Does the brand name work just the same as the generic? Do I take them before or after I eat breakfast? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

What you do is this...

Go with it! Okay, so you're still hungry? E-A-T!! Most people don't believe it but you HAVE to EAT to lose weight!

Some don't get the full effects from Phen but that doesn't mean that you won't lose weight. Phen is a TOOL... not a miracle drug. Phen is not to be taken to make you not eat so you in turn lose weight...

You should be taking it an hour before you eat breakfast. After you eat breakfast, you should be eating every 2 - 3 hours. Something... healthy of course. Buy some 100 calorie packs, Quaker 100 calorie granola bars(I live off those things!), carrots, apples, bananas... it doesn't matter. Just be sure to eat!

Track your calories in someplace. I personally like Sparkpeople.com but others use fitday.com and others.

Drink your water! 8-12 glasses a day! Ditch the sodas... afternoon coffee... tea... just water.

Give it a chance, it will work but it's not just... take a pill, lose weight.

Good luck to you and I look forward to following your progress!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Thanks so much msmartini!! You really helped me a lot. Today is a week and I've lost 5 pounds. At first I thought that it must not be working for me because I was still hungry. I've always heard so many people say that it makes them not hungry and they have to make themselves eat. But, I've learned that I can eat...I have to eat and I'll still lose weight! Thanks!
