I have been on phen for a little over 2 weeks. I noticed the first week I was still hungry at times. I do think it takes time for the medication to do it's thing and everyone differs. Now I do notice when I don't drink enough water I feel hungry but I think it's thirst really. I can push away from the table after eating a third of what I used to. I still serve myself the same portion just to see how much I used to eat and what I eat now. This is a big wake up call!
The best thing you can do is take the med consistently everyday around the same time. Take it with at least a full 8oz of water. I normally wait anywhere between 1 hour and 3 hours (depending on my schedule that day) to begin eating. This way the medication has a chance to supress the appetite.
Of course, following the guidelines on this site helps tremendously. Eat small meals 4-6 times a day(eat a carb/protein together), get at least 2 liters to one gallon of water in a day, and do some form of exercise even if it is 10 minutes to begin with.
I found that using dailyplate.com has made food choices easier because you type it in and it tells you calories, fat, carbs, and proteins. I was worried I was eating too much and come to find out I wasn't wasn't eating enough!
Now my protein to carb ratio for one day is 100%+(protein) to 55% (carbs). I think this helps.
Most important, don't give up! The medication is a tool to help you and not the solution. Changing the way you eat/live will in the end be the most important thing!
