I have been taking pherntermine for almost 6 months. I recently found out i am 7 weeks pregnant. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking the drug. I am just so afraid somthing might be wrong with my baby.

There's a lot to be said for paying attention and stopping all drugs when a baby's health is at stake. I am real proud of you for doing that. All we can do is the best we can do!

And though I don't use this as an excuse, I well remember having the flu and being treated for it when I was pregnant with my( healthy ) 26 year old daughter. It was one of the things that could enter through the placenta and cause possible harm in the first few weeks. I was heart sick.

My doctor assured me that I was doing the best I could and that it came as no surprise to God what happened with this pregnancy. He took me into his office and read me a Bible verse in the Old Testament(He teased and said the New Testament is a codicil to God's Old Last Will and Testament, which is still in effect!). It said God knit babies together and knew every particle of their being even while they are in the womb. They are a gift from God to you and even with what we call imperfections, God says here they are perfectly and wonderfully made.

Don't know that that helps, but it sure helped me.

First, congratulations on your pregnancy!

Second, did you tell your OBGYN about the phentermine? I know it's hard but it really is the best thing to do, if you haven't. He/she needs to be aware.

I did have a friend that was taking phen when she got pregnant unexpectedly. Luckily, everything worked out fine for her.

I would suggest talking openly with your OBGYN and see what they think about potential risks.

Hope everything goes well for you!

Hi, I was taking Phen when I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant and of course immediately stopped, but my baby (3rd and final boy) is 3 months old and just fine, I have a really good relationship with my OBGYN and of course I told him about the phen and he said it wasn't a concern until it was..., meaning don't worry about it because there is nothing you can do about it and if something comes up we'll deal with it then, just make sure your doctor knows so that he can be looking for things like irregular heart beat etc...but again my dr wasn't too worried about it and my baby is just fine

Super responses and they bring home to roost the fact that always telling the truth to your doctor is the only way to go. We can all deal with the truth much better than we deal with a shady story~which is not to suggest you haven't told your doctor. It is just a great reminder to do so.

Thank you all for the reply. I did tell the doc and he is running some test. Heart beat is a little high. I am keeping fingers crossed and saying a prayer that all will be ok.
