i ordered Phentermine on the internet about a year ago...and i've taken them off and on...pretty much when ever i felt like i was gaining a few pounds back but lately i've noticed my heart beat feels "harder"

i did some research on the drug and found out that it has some heart side effects as well as some lung problems as well...

so my question to you guys is does anyone else worry about this or has anyone else experienced any problems from taking phentermine?? i love the energy and the weight loss and wish i didn't have to stop takin them, but i have a 3 year old!! i don't need any heart problems =(

I'm going to leave this part alone...

First things first, if this is the case, please seek medical attention.

When I google "Phentermine" and "Heart Issues", I get plenty of information warning of the mixed drug Fen-Phen. The Fen part of that combination is no longer available because of heart complications. The only other referenced point about heart issues is if you have a pre-existing heart condition. Then that is an entirely different issue all together.

Honestly? No. Before I was prescribed Phentermine, I experienced fast heart rate, irregular heart rates and palpitations. My general practitioner felt the risk was worth the gain... and my cardioligist agreed. 3 months was all she was to prescribe but in the end, she gave me 5 in total. Even though the risk is low, like all medications, there is a risk. This is not meant to be a long-term medication. The weight is down and the issues with my heart are now gone.

If you feel your heart is performing differently then it has in the past, I highly suggest a visit to your doctor.

I agree, too. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Meds should be taken only when the benefits outweigh the risks. If you're just a few pounds overweight, the benefits are minimal. which means the risks are greater.

I took phentermine for the first time back in 1980 after my first child was born and I wanted to get back in shape. I had absolutely no problem with it, got my weight down and kept it down for years.
Did the fen-phen thing back in the mid 90s after birth of my last child. I was monitored by my doc every month. Blood pressure and heart were fine.

I took it again two years ago, bought off the internet and it seemed to be the real thing, lost weight and was doing great until the company I bought it from disappeared. Recently I had a full physical, which included an EKG and stress test, my heart is still strong and healthy. My blood pressure is still normal.

So I don't really think the medication itself is a problem. Since most people don't have their hearts checked out until after there are symptoms, how do we know if there isn't an underlying issue which was just made worse by the medication.

If you're concerned about these medications, go to the doctor FIRST, have some tests done, check everything out, heart, liver, etc.
