I have allergies. Had them ALL my life I have to take benadryl for sneezing and runny nose and itchy eyes and things of that nature. I also take a decongestant when I start feeling really bad ear pressure. The diet doctor said no decongestants. But my ear is HURTING What do you take if you have this problem? I'm on phendimetrazine 35 mg 3 times a day. No high blood pressure (112/72 today). I was thinking I could take something and go to bed and wait 12 hours and then resume the phen? Thoughts?

I'll leave this one for susan to answer, she may know more.

Oh, Girl, I feel for you. I take them every day, morning and night. WAY more than any human should have to take them. I have to have special prescriptions from allergy specialists at Vanderbilt Hospital sent to Alabama and passed thru my pharmacist who must counsel me about it before he gives them to me! I KNOW! DON'T COPY ME. They say what I take could kill a horse, but I am highly allergic to everything. SO..I take Allegra D in the a.m., Singulair in the day if I need it, 2 benedry at bedtime---oh...afternoon I take Zyrtec. None of it makes me sleepy. There are dangerous things that can happen when you combine all those medicines. I do that ONLY under doctor's care. Without them I can wind up wheezing, face swollen, eyes swollen...who knows??My next step is to go thru some allergy testing which I may start on August 20th.

I AM NOT A DOCTOR, but from a mother's viewpoint, if you have someone there with you who knows you are taking it, I say take 2 Benedryl before bed and your medicine in the morning.

I understand all that you are on. I cannot take Allegra D. I took it and it was the BEST thing in the world for me and my allergies.....but it started causing me a rare side effect. I thought I was having a heart attack. Took a lot of tests and dr visits to figure out what was causing the problems and I cannot take Allegra D. I can take sudafed (the old kind and the new kind, but the new kind does not work on me). I can take Mucinex D. No problems. So when I get pressure in my head, or stuffy, or my ear hurts, I need a decongestant and usually take sudafed or mucinex D. If I am itchy, sneezy etc. I take benadryl.

I have taken benadryl while on the phendimetrizine and not had any problems. But the doctor had thought if I combined a decongestant while taking phendijmetrizine that it could raise my blood pressure. My bp is running normal even on the phendimetrizine. Under 120/80. Usually 110/72. My heart rate goes up and down a bit more....

Anyway. I can understand you Susan! I have tried all the things you take You have to go with what works. I don't know what I will do if I get older and get high blood pressure and cannot take a decongestant!
