I have been taking adipex-p for about 2 1/2 years now. I would have stopped a long time ago but the problem was when I would try to stop I would get so depressed. All I want to do is lay around the house with no interest at all and eat. So after about 3 or 4 days of this I would start taking the phentermine again. Then I would try to stop taking it only to go back through the same thing. I am sick of this vicious cycle I am on and want to get off of them for good this time. I can't see my dr. for another month and want to know how to get off of them without having such extreme reactions. I heard someone say, slowly wean myself off of them (like take a 1/2 one for a little while). How do I do this? Has anyone gotten off of phentermine after taking it for this long without the bad reactions and if so, how did you do it? Thanks for your help

I was on adipex for the same amount of time. I also went through the same thing. I guess I was addicted to them. But what did it for me was I noticed that everytime I would try to get off of them, my body would just crash! I became VERY drowsy, VERY sluggish, I didn't know what was wrong with me till I put two and two together. And it wasn't just your everyday tired from working or errands....it was like my body was trying to go into a hibernation!! I became VERY depressed because I couldn't just "wake up." Adipex lingered on my like that for about 3 months till one day I noticed.....hey, I'm not sleepy or sluggish!! But now I have gained some weight back so I bought the phentramine-d from Ian. Got them today. Haven't started on them yet. But I hope it doesn't cause me to crash and burn. I hope this helped you. Not sure if I answered your question. But I just wanted to let you know you were not alone.

Hi, Dawn. Meek's answer was one of the reactions folks can have. It's really easy to understand how folks get 'hooked'. This is what happened to me; I stopped cold one time then back on after 2 wks, weaning off. First, do not worry. It will not harm you to stop cold turkey, but the results may be distasteful. Assuming you have been taking 37.5 mg, once a day, for several months, and no other A.D.D. or ephedrine/caffeine- type medicines, you may get very tired feeling and it will take 4 or 5 days to regain a normal feeling.

You appetite should not come back like it was if you have changed your habits and eaten good-for-you foods. Unfortunately, most people do not. They lose weight and then go right back to their old habits, which caused them to be unhealthy in the 1st place.

If you are getting off, I would suggest 1 week of 1 every other day, then 1 week of 1/2 pill, every other day, then 1/2 pill every 4 days for 8 days, then quit. Do you have 7 pills left to try that?

Thanx meek and mild. I was beginning to wonder what was wrong with me. I have never done anything like this, ever! It's good to know someone else was experiencing the same thing. I never thought phentermine was strong enough to give such withdrawal symptoms as I am having.
Yes Susan, I have several pills left and I will try what you said. Does this help with the withdrawal symptoms? Once I get off of this, that's it. I don't want to be on this merry-go-around again. I have had it. It isn't worth it to me. I am only about ten pounds over weight according to what I think. But, according to my height and my doctor I am doing pretty good. I weigh 132 if I gain 10 or 15 pounds trying to kick this stuff, I won't be obese by no means. Thanx, Dawn
