I have a question about dose amounts. I have had some success losing weight with a self administered phe-pro program. After some adjusting, I found taking phentermine and 20 mg of celexa each morning allows me to stay on my food plan. Unfortunately, the combination makes me drowsy. Information from a posting found on this forum leads me to believe that I should switch to Effexor for the antidepressant instead of Celexa. Here’s my question. What amount of Effexor would work like 20mg of Celexa. The Effexor comes in 75 mg tablets. My instinct is to try starting with ½ tab of Effexor in-place of the 20mg Celexa. I would appreciate any input from people with experience switching the antidepressant component of the program. Don’t bother telling me to ask my doctor. That option is not available.

If asking your dr is not an option then maybe you should try talking to the pharmacist. Self medication is very dangerous and you should not rely on unprofessional or people who don't know what other types of meds you are on to prescribe for you. This is something only a dr or pharmacist should assist you with.

Sorry if it isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is the truth. Meds like that are not to be played around with.

I so agree, and hope you have been able to ask the pharmacist.
When the combination Phen-Pro was popular, the amount of Prozac was WAY less than the amount as a depression treatment. Seems it was 5 mg.

For comparison, I take 40 mg for depression. Seems to make no difference but I would never take both without my doctor's approval..Just too many things can go wrong. A little like diving into a rock quarry without knowing what's underwater.
