Has anyone found that they are real short-tempered and emotional on phen. I find myself snapping at my kids and hubby for no reason. I also feel that at any minute I could cry.

What are you experiencing?

Yes I've noticed that I'm a little jumpy and a bit snappy....so I've been watching my behavior and attitude. Although I'm on Phen and I know it can be causing it; I make sure that I am in control and not the Phen controlling me It will get better.

This is so weird..saturday i snapped (rightfully i thought) at a lady who was rude...Sunday...I got short tempered with my Mom who was only telling me about her day but was going on and on and on and i didn't want to here it any longer..

and today..

I got a call from my Ex about how he thinks our kids (who are adults) should spend their money and i hung up and cried like a baby...

I'm not liking this feeling at all ....I hope i don't have to stop the pills but im going to write down each day now how im feeling ...this was the worst....

Sunday will be a month i've been on Phen. 15 mg. i do skip one or two days a week....of pills tho...

mzcris is exactly right....I also notice that I could snap a snapping turtle's head off on some days!! When I feel that way ( and you are going to think this is really stupid, but it works for me! lol! ) I start humming "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!" song from Mr Rogers! I know, I know, but for some reason it takes the edge off for me! lol!! Try doing something to distract you from it when you are feeling that way...doesn't have to be Mr Rogers, but whatever song you know maybe that always manages to lift your spirits when you hear it.

As for the crying....well, that is just about my whole life, there! You know, most people who meet me think that I am tough and strong, but actually I am a crybaby. I can cry seeing a silly sentimental commercial on tv!! I don't do it in public ( I gotta keep up my appearances you know! ) but at home, it is not unusual for me!

Maybe you could do the same thing with distraction on that too. Always worth a try...and what could it hurt?

Thanks for the feedback and ideas. I'll try humming. LOL I'm very aware that I am snapping at my kids, but it is like once I start I don't stop, and I get angry real fast. There really doesn't need to be a reason for it. It seems any little thing is triggering it. I'm going to keep documenting what is happening and if I can't control it I will take to the doctor and see what she says.

Good plan...any time you are not comfortable with the way you are feeling while on medications, it always the best idea to talk to the dr about it...it could be a simple fix that we are unaware of.

Short of that...I know what you mean about not controlling it once it starts though, because that is what I was experiencing before I started doing the humming thing.....to be perfectly honest, though, I'm not sure if it is the humming that makes me feel better or the fact that my family now realizes WHY I am humming and steer clear....hmmmm....food for thought there!! lol!! Either way it works!! lol!!

Hi Patty:

Your message gave me the chuckle I needed. I have really been trying to keep things in check today and have not had an incident since this morning. I did walk away a couple of times over little things and I hummed and giggled. LOL Thanks for all the support.
