Hi,

A little background...I have been on phen off/on probably three different times. In the past, it always worked great for me. It did just what it was supposed to...I had litte to no interest in food all day and had to pretty much force myself to eat. I always lost weight quickly.

Fast forward to the present. I fell off the wagon, so to speak, and gained about 25 lbs above what I would consider my ideal weight to be. 175 lbs may not sound so bad but I have size 34 pants that are very tight on me and that bothers me. Ideally, I would like to be a size 30 again.

I went to a doctor last Tuesday and was prescribed Phen again. I decided to fill the Rx at a pharmacy closer to home rather than the one I where I have gotten Phen in the past. The affect of the drug has been a fraction of what it was in the past and the affect seems to have even decreased as the week has progressed. I used to basically feel "high" all morning before...I don't now. I used to feel thirsty all day before...I don't now. I used to have to go to the bathroom every hour before...I don't know. My heart used to race before...doesn't now. I used to pit out my shirts before...don't now. (Not that I miss that side effect!) The pills do curb my appetite in the morning and early in the afternoon to an extent, but it seems to have no effect by late afternoon and into the evening. The pills basically look the same as always (white oblong with blue speckles) but the blue speckles look a little different to me. I'm thinking this new pharmacy has a different brand or something and it's not as effective. I have the 37.5 mg dosage like I always did. Has anyone ever run into this problem before? I'm thinking about calling my doctor and requesting that she write me a new script to take to my usual Pharmacy where I got Phen in the past. I've never worked with her before and I'm just conernced she'll think I'm a junky and just want more pills. What do you think?

It is not unusual for different manufacturers to affect you differently...had that same problem myself not that long ago, when my pharmacy got in a new shipment from a different company...didn't work at all for me and I had to request the old ones back.

You might try taking 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon first though to see if possibly that might help. Several people do this because the 37.5 mg is not a time released med, and so cutting it in half like that makes it work better for the whole day. I would see if trying that helps, and if not, contact the pharmacy and see if they are willing to let you change the brand of med that they gave you for a different one that may work better. If you explain yourself, they will probably be willing to work with you because it is not uncommon for people to be affected differently by different meds.

Good luck!! And be sure to let us know how it is going for you!

I called my pharmacy last night and was told the manufacturer of the Phen I was given is Mutual Pharmaceuticals. I did a search for them on this forum and found a few posts from others indicating they are not as good as Phen made by other manufacturers. I am going to call my doctor today to see if she is willing to write me a new script to take somewhere else. I think my new pharmacy would be willing to order me new pills from a different supplier but that will take longer. I took a whole pill a little over an hour ago. Based on past experiences, I should really be buzzing right now and I'm not.

You may want to check with other pharmacies in your area to see if they carry a different brand...maybe that would cut back on wait time. I think that your dr should be willing to write the new script.

Good luck!! You will do great once you get all the bugs ironed out! lol!

I am on the Mutual Pharm one too (from Target) and noticed that they don't seem to create the same "buzz" I am used to. I am switching my script to Rite Aid next month to see if it makes a difference. Where did you see reference to others having problems with these? I was looking for info a couple weeks back and couldn't find anything! It was so odd, the first day I took them, they felt normal but ever since I barely feel them at all. I'm still not super hungry, but I miss that buzzy feeling that phen usually gives me, it makes my feel like my body is burning calories! lol. It's like with these, I lose the hunger but don't get the metabolic boost? My weight loss has also been SUPER slow on this pill.

My experience has been the exact same. The first day I took it, I was all buzzy like in the past. Ever since then, the buzzy effect is minimal. I also felt like I was burning more calories just sitting still while on Phen in the past, but I don't feel that way on these Mutual Pharm pills. If anything, I have lost a pound at most in a week. I talked to my doctor...well I left her a message and her asst called me back. I was told to give it more time and call again next week if no change. Well, she'll be getting a call from me next week because I'm sure there will be no change.

Try contacting your pharmacy directly....they may be willing to trade your meds with a different brand. That is what I did when mine weren't working...I didn't even talk to the dr because the pharmacist said that they would switch them out for me. I returned the pills I had not taken so that they could see I wasn't trying to pull a fast one or something, and he replaced them with the same amount of pills from a different company.

The same here. If a brand is working and give that Buzz feeling can somebody maybe tell us what that brand is because I went back to my pharm and he did not want to help me at all.
