Well I weighed in today and it is between 215 and 220! In the morning I am always lighter!! I still don't see a difference. Maybe a little in my face but other than that, can't tell.I started taking 5-htp every day. Can anyone tell me what the good effects are and how many times a day you should take it? Also, does anyone have any exercises you can do in your home? I am always looking for new ideas!! Thanks in advance

I take the 5-HTP in the morning and again at night... 50mg each time... it's for mood enhancement, appetite supression. Everyone is lighter in the morning.... all the eating and drinking you do in a day adds up.... only weigh in the morning

I love to do yoga. Before and between my babies, it's all I ever had to do to maintain my weight. It can keep you fit in ways you never imagined, and it makes you feel good....helps me keep the aches and pains at bay. It's also known to increase metabolism, help regulate blood sugar levels, improve breathing and posture, and lower blood pressure and stress levels. You can buy a good dvd for around ten dollars, so it's not a big deal if you get tired of the routine eventually and want to buy a different one. I actually prefer to do my yoga at home, even though my gym offers regular classes. I hate to contort myself and have my butt in the air doing downward dog in a room full of people with mirrors all around. It's just not as relaxing to me that way.
I also like my pilates ball. I haven't gotten that much into Pilates yet, but I've gotten a bunch of other exercises for it off the net. Good for strengthening your core. Mine was about $15 at walmart, and it came on a circular stand to stabilize it when you need it-but it's got resistance bands attached to do upper body work, too.

Yeah-you should always weigh in the morning, after bathroom and before eating. And always with the same type (i.e. robe) of clothes or none. THat way there are as few variations as possible.
On top of all the food and drink during the day, everyone retains more water in the evening. A have a friend whose a jeweler, and she tells me to always try on jewelry I'm thinking about buying in the morning, because standing/sitting all day at work, sodium intake, etc can make you swell significantly enough to affect things like ring, anklet, and bracelet sizes.
On another forum I go too someone posted some study findings about this subject, and it was pretty interesting. They weighed a woman several times a day, every day for a month. She didn't actually gain or lose any weight-the a.m. control weight on the first and last day were the same within less than a pound. But the daily scale fluctuations were horrible. There were days when she varied as much as 8 pounds! In one day! Changing your clothes, what you've had to eat (still solid in your stomach), and what time of day you weigh all make a difference.

I believe it when you say she gained 8 pounds in one day!!! I wish I was a man sometimes because I have been around many who quit drinking soda and lose a ton of weight!! BLAH!!!

I have started taking the first weight in the morning as the one I go by all day otherwise, my good day turns into a sucky day The thing with the 5-htp, it doesn't seem to do anything for me..no more than what the Phentramin is already doing!

And as far as Yoga and Pilates goes, I have always wanted to try Yoga. It seems so relaxing. I am just not flexible! I saw a DVD at Walmart that was for Yoga and it said on the cover-FOR the INFLEXIBLE!!! I read somewhere that Yoga was intended for people who weren't flexible. I am doing Richard Simmons, Tone and Blast and I end up laughing more than working out. So, I am going out to buy Yoga tomorrow! I can't wait.

Oh believe me-when I first tried it almost a decade ago, I watched it through the first time thinking there is no way I could contort myself like that
But the good thing is, most dvd's, even the ones that aren't just for the naturally flexible-have a person or two in the following group showing how to do the moderations if you are just starting out. It doesn't take long to catch up-yoga is designed to make your body flex the way it is intended to (and in a sequence that elongates your muscles) based on centuries of anatomical studies....so day by day, little by little-you can find yourself getting that much closer to doing it just like the pro's.

Richard Simmons-I don't think I could do that either. I know it's helpful for some people, but all that unnatural enthusiasm just gets on my nerves
Tony Little is almost as bad. I bought a Gazelle that came with 4 dvds to workout to, and after trying to watch the first one-I never even took the plastic off the other three.

KIKI - what's the latest with your weight loss? Are you still taking the Phentramin? Still happy with it? Noticing any tolerance? Congratulations on your previous loss and thanks for keeping us posted!

Hi
Yes let me know too. Sometimes you can about on music and start dancing to it. Look at cable company they have exercise shows. There used to be a tall well built , black haired man that exercised on the beach. That was fun to exercise with him.
