I started taking Phentermine in May/2007 at 180 pounds. I lost 20 pounds by July/2007. By September I was down another 20 pounds the weight just rolled off! IT WAS WONDERFUL! I wasnt craving junk,I was barely hungry for anything.I would eat one meal a day (dinner) just because I wasnt hungry the rest of the day.I would snack and eat what I wanted BUT it wasnt much of anything! Food just didnt sound good to me,which was very rare! Im a junk food junky!! The energy I had made me go walking for an hour an a half a day AFTER working a 9 hour day on my feet!! I LOVED IT. This stuff works TRUST ME!!! Nothing ever worked for me EVER but this stuff did.WELL in Mid September/2007 I started taking 2 a day like an idiot! I felt like it wasnt having that much of an effect on me with just one pill so I upped it. I was desperate! But taking 2 a day only worked for about a month.THEN end of October/2007 POOOOF!!! It just stopped working NOW its January/2008 and I have gained back 10 pounds!:( Does anyone know why this just stops working???

I think any diet aid can only take you so far. The time we're given on that diet aid should be a time to learn new habits.

That said, I really think the issue is probably that you were only eating one meal a day. Your calories were/are wayyyyyyyy too low and your body thought you were starving. So in turn, it has started hanging on to every calorie as it doesn't know when it will see another one.

I had that exact same experience. Used it off and on for 2 years, lost 40 pounds and then it just doesn't work any more. I was even taking 2 37.5 pills spaced throught the day and I may as well been taking Flintstone vitamins. I am at frustration level too, are you considering trying Phentramin or one of these others? I am concerned that it won't work for me since Phentermine stopped working, but don't know how they compare.

Some have had good experiences with other type medicines after stopping phentermine. Hoodia, Phentramin, Phentramin-D...all work differently. The "D" says it most closely mimics the action of phentermine but I haven't tried it so can't report my own responses.

Don't give up! But don't double your dose. It hardly ever helps the action of phentermine and sometimes harms~

It stops working b/c our bodies grow a "tolerance" to it. For some, this happens sooner than for others! Be lucky your body took several months to build that tolerance! I agree w/ msmartini. You did not learn new habits in this time period, so when your hunger returned, you just ate like you USED to eat. Perhaps you could try the Phentramin-d. It is supposed to mimic Phentermine pretty closely.
At any rate - good luck to ya!!!

Maybe you should have taken a month or two off from it. Sometimes doctors will only write a prescription for it for 3 months, then make you take a few months off so you don't develop a tolerance or addiction....

I agree with what the others have said. Bodies can build up tolerances to anything if given enough time to do so. I think pills in general are only suppose to jump start our weight loss and give us encouragment to continue with a more healthy life after the effects of them wear off. Hope you found something that works for ya!
