I am currently looking into getting prescribed phentramin. does anyone know if you have to be a certain amount overweight? I am 24 years old, height is 5'2, and weigh 150. most people i know taking it are atleast 60lbs overweight so I was just curious to see if its for people just wanting to lose like 30lbs. thanks!

Do you mean phentermine? If so I think you could possibly get it from a doctor, have you checked what your idea weight should be?

Yes that is what i meant. I looked up what i should weigh and it said 104 - 137 lbs. I would like to be around 120 or so, I just wasnt sure if you had to be alot overweight in order to get prescribed it.

Theoretically, you should weigh in the 160's to meet the criteria of being 30% above something known as BMI, or body mass index.
It's really a jumping board for standards and your doctor may overlook that. I agree..Go for it!

Ok this is BMI Categories:

Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Yours is 27.4 so I think they may consider you

Well I called a doctor that i know prescribes the medicine but he is an obgyn and he said he only gives it to his established patients and doesnt see people just for weight loss...so I dont really know what to do next, i looked up weight loss and things like that in the phone book but there was nothing but like weight watchers. any ideas on what i could do... I just had a baby 3 months ago and lost quite a bit of weight but I am stuck at 150 no matter what i do i cant get over the hump and just needed something to help me out a little more.
