I dont know if anyone can help me. My dr gave me Phentermine 37.5. I take half 9h00 and then 14h00 the other half. I dont feel anything, no rush, not more energy as usual and no funny feelings. I cannot take more then one a day according to the dr. What is this phentermine suppose to do, and what is in them that will make you loose wight, or is it just that you eat less and thats way you loose wight. I do eat and im hungry. Im not obese but have 10 pounds to get rid off, gym, done that been there WW done that been there. Im frustrated.

I understand the frustration....been there most of my life! Phentermine is supposed to be an appetite suppressant, metabolism booster, and energy booster. While on phentermine, it is advisable that you moderate your caloric intake, ideally between 1200 to 1500 calories per day. It is also best for you to exercise for at least 20 minutes 3-5 days per week. Drinking 80 to 100 oz of water per day will also increase the loss.

If you feel that your medication is not working to suppress your appetite at all, please check with your dr for the possibility of changing the dose. Sometimes a person will do better on a different mg. There are 15, 30 and 37.5 mg available, and no, just because you think you are getting the highest doseage does not mean that it will work the best. I personally do not do well at all on the 37.5 and requested to go back on the 30 mg. Some people do wonderfully with the 15 mg dose and lose just as much as those on a higher dose.

Phentermine is actually very similar to amphetamines, and must be prescribed by a dr only, it can not be purchased without an actual written prescription.

I hope this helps you. Good luck in your loss!

Thanx 4 replying. English not my home language, so Im battling to say what I deep down want to say, but I think I will go back to my dr and ask for the 30mg. Is there is difference in the 30mg pill and 37.5, I know 37.5 is stronger but there must be something different in 30mg because I have read that maybe 30mg will work better and was just wondering about that, do they differ in color and ingredients or why will the 30mg maybe work better?

I understand what you are asking, and I apologize for not understanding better earlier.

There is not much difference between 37.5 and 30's actual medicine in them...not like you think anyway. The real difference is that 37.5 is longer lasting but slower acting. 30 is not as long lasting, faster to work, and timed release.

Everyone is different on what works best for you. If you don't think that is working like it should, ask your dr about changing. They are usually very good about helping you find what will work the best. There is also a 15 mg dose that several people have really good luck with.

Good luck!! Let us know how you are doing!

I just started back on phentermine. CVS dispensed Qualitest 37.5 50/30 and it's like taking a sugar pill! Been on full dose for 7 days. Take 100mg of 5-htp at night, too.

Cut calories and drinking lots of water. Take b-12 shots once a week.

Any advice on how to make the appetite suppressive qualities kick in again? Possibly it is the type of phentermine? Worked fine the first time I took it last year.

Not sure what's up. I've emailed my doctor, too.

Thanks!

You know, mimibug, it is interesting you should ask that, but just recently I asked to change my medicine because it was a different manufacturer than what I had taken before and it just didn't seem like it was working. The pharmacist was very nice about it and got me back the brand I had before, and things are going fine again.

So, yes, it CAN be the brand of medicine, not always the doseage that is making the difference. If you happen to know what brand you were taking before, ask the pharmacist if you can get that brand again. If you don't know the brand, ask the pharmacist if it possible to try a different one than what they have on hand. Sometimes they may have to order a new one in, but are sometimes willing to do that.

Hope it all works out for you!! Be sure to let us know how you are doing!

5-htp is a like an amino acid and converts to serotonin in the body. Doctors using the phen/pro protocol often use 5-htp for phentermine poop-out, or in my case, instead of the serotonin re-uptake inhibitors(aka anti-depressants.)

Not sure how all the chemistry works. You can get 5-htp at
most places that sell vitamins. Be sure to take after you eat or you may get nauseous. I take mine right before bed because it helps me sleep.

Just google it to find out more : )
