Cut up the following:

-One medium onion
-One large green pepper
-2-3 large carrots
-2 large celery stalks

Throw in two of the larger cans of stewed or diced tomatoes, and get them simmering.

In the meantime, brown 2-3 lbs. of ground beef (I like it meaty so I use 3lbs.). Season as desired with salt, pepper, garlic, whatever. And, 3 tbs. of dark steak sauce (such as A1) makes it wonderful.

You'll need to either shred or cut up a whole head of cabbage. Add two cans of beef broth, one small can of tomato paste (optional, I don't think it needs it), and a can of water to your veggies, throw the burger and cabbage in, and let it simmer for another hour or so to cook the cabbage. At this point, a little more steak sauce in the mix makes it just perfect.

If it seems too chunky with not enough liquid, you can always add more broth or water. I'm not sure about the nutritional content, but really the only fat and significant calories come from the hamburger, and if you drain it that'll take away most of the fat.

It's yummy!! OH--works very well with chicken and chicken broth, too.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "Does it work?"...

The soup is wonderful if that's what you mean, it's healthy, very low-fat, very low-carb, full of fiber, lots of good protein from the meat, very filling, and delicious!
