You know you can buy certain bread that is carb reduced or ones that have high fiber. I think I used to get some that was around 7 grams a slices. Not to bad when you look are normal bread at 12. Yes, it taste good to. It wasn't in the low carb area either. It was with the normal bread.

Hey Lucy. Good job on losing 6 pounds. My first week I lost 7 pounds. Since then it's been a steady 2 pounds each week. One week I didn't lose but I didn't gain either so it balanced out. There is this bread that I use it's the orowheat light 100% wheat bread. I like it. A serving size is 2 slices 80 calories, 0.5g of fat, 7g of fiber, 18g of carbs. I'm not into that carb thing so I'm not sure if that's high or not. I just look at the calories, fiber, and fat. I've also been following the 3 gram rule. For every 100 calories there should be no more than 3 grams of fat. Those new 100 calorie snacks from nabisco are really good because they are all 100 calories and have 3 or less grams of fat. It's been really hot here too. 105 to about 108. We also have the spare the air days with all the smog we have here it makes it so much harder to breathe. There's been a couple of times I needed my inhaler but because of phen I can't use it. So I had chest pains for a couple of days last month because of the unhealthy air. I hope the 3 gram rule helps you out a little.

There is no need to completely cut out bread. Try eating mostly whole grain bread (like 100% Whole Wheat). That is a much better choice than trying to go without brad at all!

Heeey, sorry I haven't updated the last couple days ...my mom was rushed into the ER and had to have her kidney out today at the UVA Medical Center because it's cancerous. I've been really tired/worried/upset but today I am feeling better because the doctor informed us that the operation was very succesful and that he thinks he got all the cancer cells out. I really hope so. Now my mom is in the hospital recovering. She's got IVs and an oxygen tube and stuff all over her, but she seems to be doing ok. I'm still worried though. Errgh, my thoughts are so scattered and I'm so tired. Anyway I spent the night at the hospital with my mom last night taking care of her and didn't have much to eat. Today I had a little too much and I didn't take my phen b/c I hadn't taken it with me to the hopsital. I wish I could be with my mom tonight to make sure she's okay, but I'm sure the nurses will take good care of her. They told me that they'd check her vital signs every 30 mins. I'm going to visit her tomorrow afternoon with my brother and my dad and take over some things to comfort her with...I've already taken 2 of her stuffed animals from when she was a kid, books, flowers, and pictures of our family and the dogs...any suggestions as to what else might be nice to bring and would be allowed in the hospital? Ace, your input would be really helpful since you work in a hospital!

Oh, Lucy! I am sorry to hear about your mom, but so glad that she is doing well. You are in my thoughts!

When I was in the hospital I wanted something to wear that was mine from home. A nightgown, sleppers, anything like that.

Thanks Needtolose, you are really sweet My mom is doing better now, just recovering in the hospital as you can imagine. She's in a lot of pain, but improving...
As for my diet, I must say I haven't been finding the time to exercise lately...what with being at the hospital for hours on end and being exhausted from the stress and lack of sleep, I haven't really felt up to trying to walk or jog. Tomorrow's monday, though, and I'm going to go back to work and continue my daily routine, which includes walking 40 mins a day. It's also hard finding good things to eat around the house, because since my dad is the one that does the shopping now there is nothing here that I am interested in eating!
