I've noticed alot of new people coming along, but not many new diaries being started. Just thought I'd throw out some thoughts on why it's a good idea.
One of the hardest things in the world to do is lose weight. Trying to do it on your own makes it harder. With an online diary, not only do you have a place to write how your doing and how you feel about it, you have a place to go where others who are going through the same thing can help you through it.
Also, if you look through other diaries you may find similarities with other people. Nothing can help more than developing friendships with other people who have this in common with you.
As you progress, you have this history to look back on. See what things helped you, what hurt you. You can use this history to help you grow and learn how to avoid slipups, backslides, downfalls in the future.
When you reach your goal, whether it's a long term or short term goal, you can go back to the beginning and see just how far you've come. Be proud of all you've accomplished and remind yourself that you did it. When you look back at it, you will find yourself saying things like, "I actually did that?" or "I can't believe I ever felt that way about myself". It makes your success more real and clear for you.
The biggest thing is, other people are here for you. Everyone here needs someone else and is ready to be here for you. The only way people can know what you need is if you tell them. By posting in a diary, you give others the chance to get to know you and be able to give the care and support we all need to get through lifes challenges.
