Hi Everyone,
I can't begin to tell everyone how exciting it is to read about all of your stories. I started taking Phentermine on December 6th i started out at 243 lbs. On January 17 I weighed in at 213 lbs, I was amazed. I went on vacation and stopped taking the pills for about 2 weeks On the 30th of January i started them again the first 2 weeks I was down 5 lbs, and then another 6. I lost a total of 41 lbs and I am still in shock. I haven't even started an excersise program yet. Tonight I am going to try Spinning class for the first time. I hope I can inspire just a few of you to hang on or push a little harder.

Hi Amy. Welcome to the thread. I'm so happy for your weight loss - and it definitely gives me hope! I'm curious what steps you took for your initial loss - did you follow a special diet or anything? Good luck with the spinning tonight... it's a bi-atch (I've done it two or three times) but you'll sweat like crazy and it feels good. Also, don't be afraid to tell them it's your first time... they'll keep an eye on you and make sure you're pacing yourself appropriately. In the beginning in spin class the goal is to keep your feet moving, even if you can't do all the standing etc that they do. It's fun and energizing - you'll love it! Ellen

Hi Ellen,
I started out on a low low carb diet.(I mean ver low). I just follwed Atkins really strictly. I still do. The only advice i can share with you is Make sure you always have the low carb snacks around otherwise you will just binge. When i am in the mood for something I will have a low carb version of it or prepare it so that it is ok to eat. I eat because I have to. I really never feel hungry. I always make sure I have stuff in my bag to nosh on. I live a very stressful life. I go to College full time and I am married with 3 children. I've learned an important value over the past few months. If I am not happy My entire family is miserable, so I get up an hour earlier every day and take the time to make myself look good and prepare my food for the day. I don't want to fail myself and more importantly I don't want to fail my family. Oh you should also dedicate an artical like a photo, clothing or something as motivation and put it where you will see it regularly. I use my children I want to be around for a long time. I also have a picture of this Bikini that I want to fit into permanantly glued onto my fridge. Good luck, Ellen and thanx a million for the spin advice. I will let you know how it went.
Amy

Welcome to the forum Amy!! Good luck with your weight loss. As soon as I saw your weight loss stats I figured "low carb".... I've gotta give my 2 cents on it.. please don't be offended, I'm just me.

I did Atkins for 5 months... lost 45 pounds... felt good at that weight. I went to talk to a nutritionalist because I knew I couldnt stay on Atkins for the rest of my life because my cholesterol was a little higher than it should be at 28 years old... it wasn't at all high before Atkins. Well the info I got from the nutritionalist was to get OFF Atkins as fast as possible... that any diet that restricts you from fruit isn't one she'd suggest to anybody. She said if I was dead set on low carbing that I needed to look into South Beach. Anyways... I got off Atkins... added back carbs slowly... not sandwiches with bread and pasta everyday... just a little each week. Well over a years time I put back on all 45 pounds... no more... no less.. just all 45 that I had shed during Atkins. Needless to say I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. I had gotten my Mama on it as well as a few friends and since they all did it.. lost weight.. were happy.. got off it.. gained it all back. My Mama was the worst because she got on it.. lost weight... felt great... and then really watched her diet and over a year gained all her weight back too. That was sad because she was very careful about eating foods good for her... and the carbs just kicked it all back on :(

Anyways.. it is your life.. but just so you know once you do go off Atkins... just the smallest amount of carbs will cause you to gain... and gain.. and gain. I've discovered that eating better foods.. good carbs....veggies... fruits... low fat.. low cal... working out... I can lose weight all by myself I've been doing it since Feb 4th and am down 10 pounds. I'm not starving... and I've only taken Phen 1/2 of the time.. a few days on and a few days off.

Anywho... welcome to the forum.. good luck in everything!!!

Hi,
I appreciate your concern and I didn't take it offensively but when you have to loose as much weight as I do you need to see guick results or I tend to get discouraged. I am seeing a doctor and nutritionist and will eventually add in carbs but nothing white. I didn't make spin class because my children were acting craz yesterday so we blasted the music and Danced for an hour instead. It helped us all let out some steam. I went to get weighed yesterday and am down another 3 lbs! I am so exited. Anyway, i have to run Have a great weekend!!!!!! DON"T FORGET TO THINK GREEN TODAY!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK ALL.

AMY. 8-)

Lost total of 44lbs only 79 to Go!!!!!!!!!!
