Hello Everyone,

When is the best time to hop on the scale? When I weigh myself 1st thing in the morning, I weigh about 5lbs less than I do before bed. I avoid the scale after I eat or drink anything in the morning and only weigh myself after I wake up. Is that the right thing to do?

I think as long as you're consistent in when you weigh yourself it's fine whenever it works for you. Just try to do it at the same time, with the same level of clothing (or none!) on. I have to wear clothes of course because I weigh in at the office LOL. We alsoi recommend only doing it once a week so you don't make yourself nuts with life's fluctuations. Just wanted to say welcome to the site.... I usually weigh in the morning also... You do tend to weigh more in the afternoon but it shows your weight lose both ways... I wanted to wish you luck ..... Keep us posted on your progress.... Dreamy :grin:

Just my 2 cents~ I would weigh in the morning. FIRST, I would strip, bathe, wash and dry my hair, cut my nails, take off that heavy nail polish, take off my rings, my watch and THEN weigh! :cool:

Don't forget to use the bathroom to. I make sure I use the bathroom right before I get on the scales at the dr.'s office.

I agree that in the am is best. Don't put the scale on a rug ~ it should be on the floor. (Not sure why?)

HAHAHA that is too funny you guys!! But the thing is.. that is almost what I do!! hahahaha! Right when I get up in the morning.. around 6 I go to the potty.. then I strip down and weigh myself... Then i take a shower... I am thinking now I should take a shower first.. that dirt might weigh something?!?! hahahahaha!

I think any time of the day is fine as long as you are consistent with the same time each time you weigh yourself.. and yes the scale shouldn't be on the rug.. so the best place to do it is in your bathroom.. plus you can weigh yourself bare butt naked too!!

I agree morning is best- no clothes, and after the bathroom for me.
It's been my habit for a long time-years ago, I was at a jewelers trying on some rings, and the sales clerk told me that it's not a great idea to size for them in the evening (which is when I was there)-that's when we retain the most water and sizes will feel different because of it-and that I should either bring in a ring that fits correctly or come in on another morning. If it can make my FINGER bigger....I excuse all my other parts from the scale at night!
Sodium intake, exercise (both for water retention), what we're wearing, and what we've eaten/drank and not yet passed (gross, but true) can make the scale fluctuate radically. To spare my sanity, I only weigh in the morning.
