I agree morning is best- no clothes, and after the bathroom for me.
It's been my habit for a long time-years ago, I was at a jewelers trying on some rings, and the sales clerk told me that it's not a great idea to size for them in the evening (which is when I was there)-that's when we retain the most water and sizes will feel different because of it-and that I should either bring in a ring that fits correctly or come in on another morning. If it can make my FINGER bigger....I excuse all my other parts from the scale at night!
Sodium intake, exercise (both for water retention), what we're wearing, and what we've eaten/drank and not yet passed (gross, but true) can make the scale fluctuate radically. To spare my sanity, I only weigh in the morning.
