I weighed in at 187 yesterday. I am 5'4. My minigoal is 154, my ultimate goal is 135 or so. My dr. is the one that prescribed phentermine, and he prescribed me the 30 mg time release version for the first month. I took my first pill today. I felt slightly jittery for a few hours after taking it but that wore off. Otherwise, I felt the same hunger that I usually do, no difference yet. I do have an awful headache this evening but I don't know if it's related.

keep taking it. the first 2 weeks i took it i was convinced it was fake or something was wrong with me.

i have found that the phen helps, but you still have to have some level of personal motivation along with it.

are you eating enough protien (sp?) and drinking enough water?

one thing that has helped me is sort of a mindgame i play when i think i want to eat. i make myself wait 15 minutes and drink a big bunch of water. if after that time, i am still hungry (tummy growling) i eat. but then after every single bite i ask myself if i am still "hungry."

i saw this guy on oprah (yes, i am one of those people that watches oprah) that said to lose signifcant weight you are seriously going to have to be a little hungry. embrace the feeling and know that when you feel any level of hunger you are burning fat.

you are SO LUCKY your doctor is letting you take it. my jerk doctor just gave me a preprinted "diet" and sent me out the door.

best to you ~ amy

Thanks Amy! That was a great tip. I am definitely going to give that a try tomorrow I'm sorry your dr was such a jerk :( My family dr is located next door to a bariatric dr. so I got lucky.

Took the phen around 8:00. At 8:30 ate a bowl of Bran Buds (high fiber, low cal cereal) with a banana. Now it's 9:45 and I am RAVENOUS. I feel like I could eat a huge meal! Before phen, I ate bran buds every morning and it kept me full at least a few hours so I'm confused as to what's going on. I'm going to push through it though, and not give in. Just in case my body is having some funky reaction to the meds. If I continue to get hungrier in the next few hours, I'll eat an early lunch.

Are you drinking a lot of water like you should be???
Cuz if you do, it'll help keep you full for quite a while. You really shouldn't be experiencing THAT much hunger!!! That sounds strange...

I know, it's weird isn't it?? I may have skimped on the water yesterday, I can't remember. That is a good suggestion though, I will up the water intake today

Maybe you're misreading your body. Maybe your body isn't really telling you it's hungry...??? Have you been an emotional eater in the past? Or someone who snacks & nibbles all day long? Do you tend to eat when you're bored??
Cuz if you WERE any of these types of eaters, it may take a while for you to "retrain" your body into ONLY eating when you're hungry!
That's the boat I'm in right now. I am a SAHM, so I was constantly wanting to nibble & snack cuz I got bored easy. I am on my 13th day of Phentermine, & I have found that it is soooooooooooo much easier to refrain from snacking when you're on this stuff! It's awesome!!! I realize bad habits aren't broken overnight though, so once in a GREAT while (in the evenings) I sometimes head for the cabinet & then I stop myself & go to the fridge instead & take out a bottle of water! This is a habit I am QUICKLY developing, which is awesome!!! Sometimes in the late afternoon I'll get a hunger pain (or what I think is a hunger pain), so I'll go & grab a bottle of water & just chug! Sure enough! The feeling passes, & I go about my business!
Hang in there! You'll be fine! :-D
