Hey out there to everyone!! I am going to start Phentermine tomorrow. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or advice?!?!? I am kind of nervous not knowing what to expect, but know that I can't be overweight anymore. There are no more excuses!!

I currently weigh 182 and my goal is 140. My baby weight needs to go! I haven't been able to get it off since my son was born 20 months ago.

This is a great forum for support. I've read many of the comments and think its great!

words of wisdom.... Drink lots of water. 80 oz at least. Take it early in the AM. Get up early just to take it even if you crawl back in bed after. Don't eat too little. 1200 calories should get the job done without putting your body into starvation mode. Regardless of how much you weigh starvation mode hangs onto the pounds! 6 mini meals at 200 calories each will be helpful... (kids will love it too cuase they always get to eat) Above all keep it healthy!!!!

I read somewhere on the forum 2 weeks ago when i started that caffine decreases the effectiveness of the phentermine and that lemon water helps ward off tolerance build up.

Keep us posted on your progess. We want to know how it's going!

Hi Fawn & welcome!!!
Words of wisdom??? Well...first of all, don't expect this pill to be a "miracle pill" that you can just pop every morning, & the weight will magically disappear, cuz that is NOT gonna happen...I think there are some that start & expect the pill to do all the work, but sorry! Doesn't work that way!
Be sure & eat healthy!!! Eat lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, low-fat dairy products, & LOTS & LOTS of water!!! The Phen will make you SUPER DUPER thirsty, so you'll want to drink TONS of water anyway! You can't keep from it!
Also, try to fit in a little exercise every day if at all possible! This helps the weight come off quicker, helps firm up your body as you're losing the weight, & also revs up your metabolism!

Welcome to PhenForum, Fawn! I love the advice the other gals gave but can add that you need to eat a little protein at each of these little mini-meals. Milk, cottage cheese, meat, beans, cheese, yogurt, nuts, etc. These things help keep your hunger level lower and also regulate the blood sugars. And write EVERYTHING down---every bite.
Start a journal under 'Phentermine Support' and daily!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the great support! I was so excited that people actually responded. I am still trying to figure out how to use this forum!!

To my surprise, I actually was 5 pounds heavier than I originally thought, so I have 47 pounds to loose. (We recently moved from another state and ate out too much!!)

I've had a good first day so far. Not really curving my appetite so much. I have eaten less. Maybe psychological?!?!?

I felt a bit hot earlier today like I couldn't cool myself off. I also felt like my hair was standing up on my arms? Is this normal?

Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it!!

Yes, the side effects you felt are really quire normal. I am one who does not get dry mouth. I do get that tingling feeling on my hair sometimes. I still feel quite hungry a lot of the time but I am not obsessed about what I eat. I can choose healthy items just as easily as something that before I would have craved. It is more of a feeling of eating out of necessity than just eating for pleasure. It has also really craved my desire for sweets.
It seems to effect people in all sorts of different ways with the one similarity that it definitely helps to control choices. Also, some loser much faster than others. Exercise is a huge component. I take my pill in the morning around 10am after breakfast. I've tried it several ways and find this is the best for me. And sometimes it takes your body a few days to adjust to the medicine. You may get headaches and insomia the first few days. Many of us did.

As the ladies said above, be sure to eat.

Fawn, Welcome. I concur with all the advice you've been given. I will say that as much as anything else I've done differently this time, that posting in my journal and giving encouragement to others has proven to be very inspirational. I hope you make good use of the forum. We are a supportive crowd and happily welcome new folks like you. Good luck on your first few days - I didn't feel the immediate appetite curbing but I noticed that it was easier to push myself away from the table or say no to bad food than it had been. Some people are like "omg I can't eat a thing" when first starting - that was never my issue. Just make sure you get in your calories (1200-1500 is probably just about right) and get your body moving and you'll be off to a great start! Good luck, Ellen

Made it through my 1st week. Hoping to loose more but I will settle for 2 pounds. Watching my calorie intake is harder than I thought. With 2 small children a lots of snacks around makes it hard sometimes.

Start weight 187
Week 1 August 21 to August 28 -2 pounds 185
