Well here goes nothing! I have been lurking on the site for several days now and i thought that it was time that i started my own journal.
My name is Janna I am 32 years old, 5'2, and I weigh 187. I have been married for 14 years and have a 13 year old son. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 at the age of 25. I also had to have a full hysterectomy the same year. Due to my cancer i am not allowed to have any HRT and that reeks havic on my body! I have been on Weight Watchers since Jan and have lost 30 pounds. However, I have all of this weight to lose and now i am stuck. I went to the doctor for a routine visit and talked to my doctor about my weight and he perscribed me Phentermine to use along with my WW. I do not want to be on this forever so i am being very careful to follow the WW program.

K so.... I started taking the Phen (I believe it is the time released capsule. blue and white?) on Saturday and immediatly felt the effects. I have just about NO appetite. I have to force myself to eat and when i do i can only eat about 1/3 of what i would normally eat. I am very happy with that! I drink a TON of water due to the dry tounge feeling. The pill does not make me feel too weird and i am adjusting to it. There are two things that i am struggling with, sleep and constipation. I am tossing and turning all night. Yes i am kind of tired but also it is nice to jump right out of bed like you have been sleeping all day when in reality you only got maybe 3-4 hours. The main thing is the constipation and i am trying to explore new ways to deal with that.

With all of that being said.... I still have about 60 pounds to lose and with the help of you and Phen i know that i can do it. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing my journey with you!

Hi there,

I know how you feel with the insomnia and constipation. It's a frequent "fun" effect! LOL. The way I deal with the constipation is with Milk of magnesia or taking a stool softener. It took one does of MOM to get me back on track my first 2 weeks. For the insomnia I use meletonin. Just on the nights when it's getting to be 4 am and I have to wake up in 2 hours. It usually helps me fall asleep in 20 minutes, without that groggy feeling if I have to get up before the 8 hours is up. Also taking the pill early helps a small amount.

Good luck with your loss! Keep us posted!

Colleen

Hi Janna & Welcome!
Good to have you hear to join this journey w/ the rest of us! It is never an easy one!
You sure have been through a lot & for that I feel for ya! How tough to be diagnosed w/ breast cancer at the young age of 25!!! :( That's TERRIBLE! I'm glad you beat it!
GL on your weight loss endeavor! Feel free to post as often as you'd like, & to ask as many ?'s as you'd like as well!!! We'll try to help as best as we know how! We're not experts, but sometimes experience is the best teacher & best answer! It's good that you are gonna continue to stick to WW along w/ the Phen!
It is sooooo important to eat healthy while you're taking these pills! Some people expect them to be a "miracle pill" & therefore, they continue to eat as they did before & then complain that they "didn't work & were a waste of $$$". Well, you just CAN'T do this! So glad you saw through that before you even started them!

Thank you so much ladies for the warm welcome. Does anyone else experience chills or like a skin crawling feeling?

Hello Janna and welcome. Chills and crawling feeling - yes, I had those too. I took half of the pill and it helped with side effects. It also helped me with my sleep.
I am sorry that you had to go through a lot in order to survive. Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi, Janna, and welcome to PhenForum! Sounds like you have already completed a big weight loss since January. Congratulations on that one, Girlie! My husband and I were on Weight Watchers almost 30 years ago  and did real well on it. It was so HEALTHY, but I do remember being hungry. I am so glad the phentermine is helping you stay with that program because it is one of the ones that really can help you re-teach your body new and healthy ways to eat. I look forward to additions in your journal!
