Hey folks,

I hope I was supposed to hit new thread when it told me to start my journal. Ian and Dawg can smack me around if I am in the wrong area.

I am a person you might have seen (picture to come) on the UFC pay per view events as well as the Ultimate Fighter Reality show first season. My life has been turned upside down after the show and still doing great in the insane world of Mixed Martial arts. Beleive or not I have an undergrad in Finance and an M.S. in Computer Science but after winning the show I had to drop all that.

Speaking of dropping all that I started as a heavyweight in the heavyweight division but needed to get into the light heavyweight division at 205lbs. Guys walk around in the 220's and then drop to 205lbs for the weigh in a day before rehydrate and come in at well above 215 on fight day.

We all have this down to a science but it does not take a nutrionist to realize this is not good for your body. I am looking to take my body down to 205 and stay there as apposed to dropping 20 and gaining 20 in two days.

It is difficult as everyone does this so in essence I will be fighting someone who outweighs me in every fight going forward. However, longterm I will last much longer.

My resting heart rate has drop to the high 50's which has left me with unreal stamina. I am 6'3 and big for the division and leaves no room for fat.

Folks, please don't beat me up if you are not in agreement with the brutality of our sport as it has changed for the better more than you can imagine.

Sorry to ramble but I am now walking around at 222 where I used to be 240 at times. Goal is 210 cut to 205 prior to competition.

Take care all. You guys all seem like balanced people and I like the support.

I am still debating regarding my identity as some fighting Athletic Commissions may not like the fact I have used Phentermine too accomplish a good and healthy cause.

Steven is my middle name

Hey stevam,
Welcome to the forum. I too am new to this (posting that is, not Phen). I've been surfing around this site for a while now. From what I have seen, the people here are GREAT. Great support, great motivators, great ideas and input. I know that you will do well. I am sure that with your background, you already have drive, determination, and know how to work hard to achieve your goals.

I have been on my weight loss journey for 1 1/2 years now. I have gone from 172 to my current weight of @ 140. These last 15-20 pounds seem to be the hardest. As bad as I want them gone, my body seems to think they need to stick around.

I have to admit that I absolutely love the Ultimate Fighter show and I love watching UFC/MMA. Some of my friends think I am nuts. Women aren't suppose to like that type of stuff I guess. My husband got me enjoying boxing years ago, and ultimate fighting and MMA is just that much more exciting. Though I have to admit there have been some fights that were just to difficult to watch.

Good luck on your weight loss quest and your future. You will do great.

Meg

Welcome to PhenForum, Steve! It's cool to have a UFC fighter here. Ian Robertson and I (I'm Ian Mason) have both had some MMA training. Ian has had a lot more though with more focus on Muay Thai, while I mostly did JiuJitzu. I have been so busy with PhenForum in the past 2 months so I can't wait to get back to the school. It felt good to learn. OH and we're really into Crossfit and Ian R. ended up becoming a personal trainer as well. Do you do follow crossfit?

Anyway, you did the journal right by starting a new thread. I'm also glad to hear that you'd rather lose weight for real instead of just dehydrating yourself like other fighters do.

Congrats on making it into the UFC and I wish you success there! Let me know next time you're gonna be on PPV and we'll watch your next win.

Welcome to Steve and to Meg!
First, to Steve, I think it's great that you are here and that you have revealed to us what you do for a living! The only fight I ever watched all the way through was when Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield's ear !! YIKES! That man SCARES me.
I know to be an athlete you must be able to control your body and its desires, never really indulging and I am in awe about how that can be accomplished. For me, the only time I can remember having control over what my body says it needs is now, while using phentermine as an appetite suppressant. Are you
searchng for support, help with a diet plan, or are you using any product to help you reach your goal?
Both you and Meg~Please post again.
Meg, tell us about yourself so we can all meet you and say hello!
Steve, please tell us just a little more of what you need...I am sure you will have a heap of great information to share with us!:p

Well, I would like to say welcome to the site as well This is a great place, and while the majority of the people trying to lose weight are women, it's great to have men join us too

With fear of sounding like a suck-up here, UFC and Ultimate Fighter have become like a new obsession around my house! Every month we get the PPV's and or course every week of every season so far we've watched the show. I'm sure we've seen you LOL I won't mention who my favorite is, unless of course you fight or train w/ his team LOL I like most everyone who fights though if that helps

Anyway, I'm glad that you've decided to hit weight the right way instead of the sauna and thermal suits. I just can't see that that's healthy at all, but it's done so often I guess it's alright or they wouldn't allow it. Atleast I hope I'm right about that. But regardless, I'm glad you're here and lot's of luck w/ the loss and training and so on and so forth. Glad to have you
