Hi, my name is Meg and I LOVE this site.

Let me warn you, this may be lengthy. I have been lurking around this sight for a few months and I must say I am very impressed. Impressed with the warm welcomes everybody gets from the members as well as the openness that is allowed here. I have been to other sites where members seem to come and go like the wind, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Well I guess I should tell you a little about myself. I will be 46 in a matter of days. I work full-time as a bookkeeper which means I sit on my rear all day. I have 3 fabulous daughters, 2 terrific son-in laws, an amazing grandson, and then there is my husband (my rock) and now very much my inspiration.

I started this whole weight loss journey in January of 2004 at the weight of 172 and after a cancer scare made me start thinking about my health. After 2 months of mamos, ultrasounds, biopsies, and more ultrasounds, I was finally told "no cancer" (thank God, since it runs in my family). So I joined the local gym, got myself a personal trainer and in 6 months I was down to 161 (11 lbs in 6 months, are you kidding me). Thats when I heard about Phentermine which I started in July of 2005. By September 05 I was down to 146 (now thats more like it).

November of 2005 my husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He's significantly overweight (290+), high blood pressure, high cholestrol, taking beta blockers for his heart, and severe sleep apnea. The past 10-11 months have been a real eye-opener for the both of us. We realize the importance of your health and how if your not paying attention to it can go bad very quickly.

We are both now on a regular exercise routine. Turned our spare bedroom into a makeshift workout room (treadmill, weights, medicine ball, and that big ball you do crunches on), and we go to the gym on the weekends. We have completely changed our eating habits. My husband is now down to 270. He doesn't take or even know about Phen (I am sure that he can't take it with his high blood pressure and heart). He is doing it strickly through hard work and will power (I wish I had will power like that).

So anyway, after a year on and off of Phentermine and not getting much results after the first 3 months, I started on PhenD October 15th. I think I will try it for 1 month and then maybe go back to Phen. We'll see. I actually like the PhenD better as far as side effects go. I don't suffer from insomnia with PhenD. But it took a good week before it kicked in and still doesn't seem to suppress the appetite like Phen did. I am in the home stretch now with about 15lbs to loose and I am determined to get there and to help my husband loose the 80 or so lbs he has so we can live long, healthy lives together.

Sorry for rambling, I guess I just feel very comfortable with you all. I have seen the support here and it is amazing to say the least. Thanks for listening (reading) and letting me share.

Best to all with your journey's
Meg

:p Hi, Meg! we are glad to have you on board, Girl! This group of folks is outstanding in many regards~and this is one of the best places to get advice. We freely give it here, too!:p About every area of your life! I think I enjoy the friendships more than any other board I have been to. All that to say, "Welcome!"
What is PhenD? Sounds as if you are on the road to wellness and hubby isn't far behind. My hubby is 63, about the same weight as your husband and I worry about him constantly. :( He does, too, but can't seem to succeed. He also doesn't know about phentermine~give me any pointers you can!

Thank Joy and Susan for the warm welcome. I think I will like it here.

PhenD is phendimetrazine (Bontril). Very much like phentermine, but I don't have side effects as bad.

Susan, I totally relate with the husband thing. I wish I had some pointers. It is just so hard to encourage and support them without coming across as their mother. I do have to admit that my husband has really come around, much on his own and I think out of fear more than anything else. He finally realized that he is too young (49) to feel so old.

Best to all,
Meg

Well, its been a bad past 2 days. I broke out in a rash (hives, I think) across my chest and my face. I don't know if it is the PhenD or what. I never had this happen with phentermine and I can't think of anything that is different except for the PhenD. So I think I will have to stop taking it, at least for a week or two and see what happens. I will just have to be that much more strict with myself to control my eating. I haven't worked out for the past 2 days because sweating makes me itch more. I hope it goes away soon.

 I HATE that for you, Hon! Ewwwwwwwww! I HATE the itching, too. Shudder...Maybe it has improved by now. Do you have any information on whether this could be from the Bontril ?
