I guess since this is my journal I can pretty much put anything into it... right?

Okay... Let's talk NUMBERS!!!!

Hubby, who is usually D(ear)H(ubby) who isn't quite so dear right now... so his opinion really shouldn't matter but since he started me thinking about numbers, guess I'll give him the credit. In passing when I made a mini-goal last week... he asked what my ultimate goal weight was. 145 I say... I figured it was on the high end, starting at 232 I didn't figure it was a terrible goal. Well, he swears that is wayyyy too low. He thinks about 180 is much better. Yeah, I know he's a kook... now I've just proved it to you!!

So because I hate being told I'm wrong, especially when I know darn well that I'm not! I went in search of equations... surely this mystery can be solved mathmatically! Numbers have never let me down before so I didn't expect them to this time.

My sources:
HealthStatus.com - health risk assessments and calculators
hallsmd.com
BMI Calculator

I must tell you that on all 3 sites, I came up with sometimes 'very' different numbers!

There are so many numbers one can calculate it's nearly mind boggling... let's start at the beginning...

BMR(Basal Metabolic Rate) - 1,722 or 1,415 (rounding both up)...

Daily Calorie Needs to maintain current weight - how about 1,945 or 2,366 or 2658????

BMI - is the only definate... or really close anyhow. Current 35.77; 35.9 or 35.8... regardless, it's down from a starting point of 38.7. Still, I'm considered Obese Class 2... boo hiss! Not for much longer though!

Body Fat Calculator(metric) - well, these numbers were crazy... 32.52%; 41.99% or 51.10% The last 2 were explained that the 41.99% is using the YMCA calculator and the 51.10% is using the US Navy Calculator. No matter... I'm fat! Which is why I'm here...

Waist to hip ratio - 0.8 pretty hard to mess this one up!

Lean Body Mass - this one has been the biggest irritation! It's either 147.07 or 115.10. Best I can tell it should be about 97.93... although the one that gave me that number did NOT take into account that my frame is large(which is also a definate)! Who freaking knows...

Anyway... I ended up figuring all that out(stressing over things that don't matter is more like it!) when I was ultimately looking for my Ideal Weight. Sure there are charts and the like. But there are also formulas. Some formulas that take the numbers above into account. If I use the formula I located taking into consideration my lean body mass(the 147 one since this formula was on the same site) and ideal fat percentage it came to 183... no, I don't even believe hubby(not DH... right now!), he WILL NOT be right! Other sources say 134 healty(ideal) with a range of 114-150. Quite a range huh??? LOL

So, the bottom line is this...

I AM RIGHT! HE IS WRONG!

Thank you for giving me a safe place to vent! Life is good...

Carry on...

Yeah, number usually don't lie! I guess I just have to find at least 2 sites that use the same freakin' formulas!! Would be helpful huh?

No worry... I was able to prove him wrong. Which really isn't all that hard to do as he's always wrong! And especially now as I would prefer him to be anywhere but here at this moment!

Ahhh! Is Kimber a numbers girl too? Spreadsheets and all, huh? I'll have to delve further into that with her. The site I use to record all food, exercise, water consumption, etc. makes me graphs and charts too! My Outlook calendar has a record of every weigh in... measurement... as well as my workout schedule(predicted as well as actual!). Yep, I'm anal. And you can bet that I WILL be figuring all these other numbers out... it will bug me til I do!

Oh... and okay. If you can't swim... then I won't make you raft. Are you afraid of heights? How about zip-lining????

a coctail I can do....oh yea there is a story behind the monkey....when I was young my uncle had went to mexico and came back with my papa a coconut monkey they had the fuzz for hair and had carved out his face and put marbles in for eyes...well I didnt know anything about the monkey my papa had it put up in the closet well one day my granny had me get something for her out of the closet I reached my hand in and felt something fuzzy I pulled my hand back and looked and all I could see what the marbles shining....I nearly pooped my pants lol.....I took off running and screaming it scared me to death my brothers and cousins thought that was hilarious so when I would sleep at night they would go and sit that damn coconut monkey on the pillow next to me where thats what I saw when I opened my eyes it always freaked me out...well when I was about 20 enough was enough with that coconut monkey I told my family that bitch had to die....so I paid one of the neighbors kids to come over and put it in a garbage bag put a brick in the bottom of the bag and throw the bag in our pond....everyone thought I was nuts but I think if they would have scared me 1 more time with that darn coconut I would have lost my mind....every since monkeys FREAK me out

Ok, you totally lost me on the numbers thinga majigee...
Are you trying to say that he's wrong about what you SHOULD weigh??? Like, according to BMI charts you shouldn't weigh 180 or you'd still be considered overweight??? I think that's the way I interpreted your post ...
145 sounds much better for you! How tall did you say you were???
