JOY!!!!!!!! DID YOU JUST HEAR YOURSELF???? You called my butt S-K-I-N-N-Y!!!! I obviously don't agree with you, but I LOVE IT all the same!!!!! (update to follow!)

Gillian... I didn't get much sleep last night so I'm pretty sure I did my math WAY WRONG!!

C.C... thank YOU for the visit today!! I hope your day was a wonderful one!!

Okay, okay... doc update:

Not really much exciting to tell... officially my October weight loss is a whopping 2 pounds!! Needless to say, she's a bit baffled at the moment... especially since my average calorie intake stays at around 1,300.(note: to all of you doctorly/nurse types... take the rest of my update with the notion that it's coming from a patient who doesn't understand a flippin' thing!! Feel free to jump in and correct me wherever I seem confused!!)

SO! The good news first, she DID give me another month of Phen... with the warning that December would be my month off(who the HECK planned that one???). But she did assure me that she would continue to prescribe Phen until I was extremely close to my goal... hmm, I'm going to have to figure a way to hold her to that one!

Next... she swears there is something going on with my joints... She keeps asking me if they hurt... um, no. My muscles hurt but not my joints... wth? Who knows...

Welbutrin - check!
Fluid meds - check!
Zocor - check!

Now, about that TOM? Still having issues... she's a bit concerned. I have to have MORE blood work done and there's some test she's running for that in addition to the regular ones... (amazing how much STUFF they can figure out by looking at your blood!) Meanwhile... I have a NEW prescription(like I need another one...) called Metformin HCL. It seems this is for people with Type II diabeties. I just got home so I haven't looked it up as of yet. But by reading the handout that came with it, it is suppose to do a few different things...

1. Control high blood sugar.
I've had this checked twice now... the first time it was borderline and the last time(Sept.) it was just over that line. Think pre-diabetic...
2. it 'could' help with the TOM issues... (sigh)
3. and this one is really just a side effect... it will help with the bathroom issues!

So... I'm to take 500 mg twice a day. With the understanding that if I get sick(cold, flu, etc.) that I stop taking it immediately.

Her thinking about my small amount of weight loss is tri-fold... TOM issues, Sugar metabolization(or lack thereof) and increased exercise(muscle vs. fat). So THAT is where I am! And to think that 3 months ago I thought I was fairly healthy... fat yes... but fairly healthy! HA!

I didn't make it to kboxing today nor am I going to this evenings class. I am going to get on the treadmill for about an hour in just a little bit. I have P.T. tomorrow and the thought of kboxing tonight as tired as I am and then that 1st thing in the morning is a bit overwhelming...

So there, back to my old 'wordy' self!! I'm off to see what you all have been up to today!!

Woah.... lots happening, you really should stay away from these doctors! I am just going to jump into fix it mode...

Okay, it makes sense to me that maybe you are not losing weight as quickly for two reasons, firstly, and you hit the nail right on the head in your post, muscle weighs more than fat and if you are burning fat and building muscle through exercise, that can actually make you gain weight. I had all these things happening when we did weight loss programs with high protein shakes, protein builds muscle, add in exercise, people put on weight and freak out thinking it doesn't work...

The other thing you mentioned is the type II diabetes. That is very common these days and can be corrected by diet I am pretty sure. I think it is aggravated by eating too many carbs which makes your blood sugar level go up which causes you to produce more insulin which then stores unused sugar as body fat. The other thing that is associated with all of this is something called Syndrome X. I won't get into detail but Google it and get more info, there is heaps on the internet about it. Basically it is when your body gradually becomes resistant to the effects of it's own insulin.

I get straight into help mode, sorry! Just that I truly believe that information is the best preventative medicine. I do not mean this in a bad way towards GP's but I know my body really, really well and sometimes they can be just a little too general for me? They have often given me things that, looking back I would have been better off without and let's face it, when you go to the doctor and they give you pills for this and pills for that, it does not do your moral much good does it?

I would maybe look for a second opinion or get to see some sort of specialist, but hey Anissa I care about you not your doctor's feelings!! You are very special and I want to help, that's all

I saw my mum before she passed away, trust her doctor implicitly and she was taking soooo many pills in the end, it was bad. She used anti-anxiety drugs where I control those sorts of feelings with herbs. She used anti-depressants where you can assist yourself so much better with natural remedies and the right positive mental attitude. She was on sleeping tablets, pills for water, pills for everything. I hate to say this, but the drug industry is a business too...

Some call me intense, like with the BDD with Rach, but I truly, truly, believe that information is power and the more you know about what is going on for you, the more empowered you will feel and the more you find out there are more ways to skin a cat, than it first appears!

I want you to feel like not

So anyway, just something I picked up... I know ya pretty well these days me dear!

Yeah, yeah... get out of here with that SKINNY ARSE bit! You're making me green with envy!!!!

No! Don't worry about it! I appreciate your thoughts... furthermore, I WANT your thoughts!! Otherwise I wouldn't have posted the details. She gave me the prescription with the option to take it. Which is good. I was so into what she said about the effects of it I left that part out. (I'm fulla Oops' today!!)

I'm giving the Welbutrin another month. Personally... I feel my depression was due to the issues handsome hubby and I were having. I just wasn't feeling it from him... kwim? Since he's still in test mode(according to me!) and so far passing with flying colors, I'm giving it another month. If things continue to progress with 'us', then I want to ween off the depression meds.

For now, the fluid pill is here to stay! For the long term... or at least until the weight is gone and the health issues dissolve. After that, I'll look for more natural ways to control my sodium senitivity. She has actually suggested I no longer take that one... but it's at MY insistence!

Unfortunantly, the Zocor is here to stay... actually, it will change from Zocor to Lipitor to finally Vytorin. Sounds silly huh? Well, since mine is hereditory, we're expecting the same results as my father and my uncles. The first 2 won't touch it(just as diet and exercise didn't... it actually went up!) but the insurance company won't cover the 3rd until the 1st two are tried... crazy huh?

I do agree. I feel the lack of movement in the evil box is probably 90% due to fat vs. muscle. And I received that proof back on Monday. A pound of muscle takes up less room than a pound of fat... hence the 11 inches lost in the last 3 weeks!! However, I think there is still some correlation due to the TOM issues. It's bad... it's never been THIS bad, ever! I'll leave those gorry details out as it's near dinner time! But just know it's not pretty...

Babe, I get everything you're saying and I'm right there with you when it comes to the concern! Which, I THANK YOU for... with nearly everything I have! I have my homework cut out for me, but rest assured no additional meds are going to be taken until Monday at the earliest.

And I WILL keep you updated in terms of my research!
