Hello everyone!

I am soooo not sure what I am doing at the moment here but I thought I would just quickly introduce myself... not even too sure how to keep a journal unless you just keep updating this thread? Maybe someone could let me know...

Anyway, my name is Gillian and I am 46 and I am married with two teenage daughters and I live in Australia.

In the last 12 months, I have had some real ups and downs with hormones and weight. Mostly up's on the weight front! Anyway I have gained 8 kilos (about 17 pounds) and I am so over it! I cannot get into my wardrobe clothes, and I am into my last few pieces of 'fat' clothing! I have tried all the chemist lines and nothing seemed to be able to curb my appetite.

When I was about 16 I took some tablets from the doctor which completely killed my appetite and I thought I would try again with those and I have ended up on phentermine.

Well I am doing good. This is now my third day. The first day was unreal... I had sooo much energy, cleaned the house from top to bottom and felt euphoric! Then I didn't sleep. Yesterday I was a little more sedate as I was feeling a little tired but everything else was good. No appetite hardly at all, amazing! Then last night I got about two and half hours sleep, I have been awake since 1.30am and I look twice my age this morning!

So I am going to call myself 'Sleepless in Brisbane' for the time being! I am determined to stick to the pills though as I truly want to get my weight off by my birthday in November. I weighed 149 on day one which was on the 19th September and I am now 45 (that was all the cleaning on the first day!!) and my goal is 130.

Could somebody please let me know if I am on track with what I am doing... is anybody there...?

Look forward to being able to chat and contribute in the forum.

PS What is the 'yammer' smiley face for? Is that for when we talk too much? LOL

Thanks guys
I feel at home here already.

I guess we'll be talking a fair bit so I might put the yammer smiley in here because I think he is cute! Actually he looks like he could be used as an 'eating' smiley too

Maybe I'll have better luck sleeping tonight; because of my very, very early start this morning, I was able to take the tablet early, so at least that is one good thing! LOL

Today is Saturday in Australia and I have been on phen for four days now. The first day I weighed in at 149.6 pounds and this morning I weigh 143.2 which is a loss of 6.4 pounds! I think that is quite a lot but when I think about the fact that I have hardly eaten anything compared to what I was eating, and I am not sleeping so good and doing a lot of extra exercise and housework, I guess it is not surprising either. I fully expect that it will slow down a little. Still I am happy!
To update my journal, I went to bed last night at 10.30pm and was out like a light and woke up again, for the third night at 1.30am, so 3 hours sleep. I tried to go back to sleep but I gave up again around 3.45am and got up. Went on the internet (isn't the internet wonderful for something to do at that time of the morning?) and came onto the forum. I woke my poor red-eyed husband up for the third time too. So he got up as well.
Around 6 or 6.30am I cannot remember we went to sit in the lounge to talk and that was the last thing I remember until my daughter walked in at 8.30am so we must have fallen asleep for an hour and a half! So at least I am moving in the right direction with sleep... not sure how I would have been if I had to go to work though! Hopefully it will start to slowly get better now because I am cutting all tea and coffee out as I had increased that, as I have been very thirsty.
The other thing I have noticed but it says not to be too alarmed on the instructions, is that my heart races a little from time to time. It has always done it a bit, I have fairly low blood pressure than normal though so I am not overly stressed about it. Has anybody else found this?
Other than that, I have my daughter's sore throat
My immune system always crashes a bit when I don't get enough sleep.
I am having a protein/vitamin shake in the morning every day and I take a few other vitamin tablets so I feel like I am getting the basics and then I just have two other very small meals. Like yesterday I had half an apple and a very thin slice of cake for lunch and for dinner I had about 4 wedges and a small portion of grilled fish.
I so don't want to eat, it is amazing, my appetite has gone! I feel my tummy rumbling sometimes but I just don't want to eat. BTW the phen I am on here in Australia is 40mg. I noticed on the leaflet that they come in 15mg, 30mg and 40mg and I ended up with the strongest one for whatever reason. Just I have noticed a couple of people talk of halving the tablets if it is too much.
Would anyone know when it would be "too much"? Is it to do with the side effects, like if you cannot put up with them or something?
That's about it for today. Love this forum.
Thanks for the support and look forward to a few comments.
(< he's so cute!)

Gillian- I just learned a big lesson, its in my journal too but here it is kinda breif. I went to the doc today. She checked my urine and I had large amounts of ketones in my urine. She said I wasnt eating ENOUGH and need to eat more, I was burning muscle

The moral of the story is Even though you arent hungry EAT! I would hate to be burning a muscle then be a skinny pile of flubber
