Well I am starting this journal about a week and a couple of days late, but late is better than never. So let's see here, today, so far, I have eaten the following.

Breakfast- cereal, reduced sugar frosted flakes w/2% milk. I dont know if it's a cup or 2 cups, I dont measure. Just a regular bowl of cereal. I know frosted flakes doenst sound too good but the box says 120 calories per serving, so I figured that couldnt be too bad.
Next- I ate a Multi-grain bagel w/cream cheese, it wasnt cream cheese it was something else that looks like cream cheese but 1/2 the fat of cream cheese, nestl something. Anyhow, the bagel says it was 280 calories and the cream cheese said 70 calories. Now I thought whoa!! 280 calories for a bagel, but I couldnt find anything with less!!
Lunch- baked steak w/rice and green beans w/brocolli. Now I know its not good to eat white rice, but it was so little I figured it wouldnt do any harm. These were left overs from last nites dinner and when I cooked the rice, I only cooked 1/2 cup. So 1/2 cup split between two meals cant be that much!!
Lots and tons and lots of water!! For exercise tonite, I will probably do what I did last nite. Treadmill for around 30 minutes of so, walking about 3.5-3.6 mph on grade 3.5. Then some are curls and whatever the other exercises are called that have to do with arms, I do 3 sets of 10. Then we have a raquetball court in my apartments, so I will jog around the court trying for 10 go arounds. So, that's it. Please let me know if you see something that I am doing wrong. Oh, I know I should eat more often, so today at lunch time I ran to Wal-mart and bought some snack stuff; carrots, almonds, grapefruits, yougurts.

Oh and for those of you who are wondering what I mean by "losing my shelf" My shelf is what my butt is now, it looks like something you can put picture frames on!!

Hi and

So ,happy you decided to start a journal. This is a process, that does not happen over not.

Take one day at a time. You have to retrain yourself, how to eat.

Go take a peek at my journal and see how I use to list my foods for the day (Desperately seeking the old me).

I've gotten so far behind on my keeping a list of my feeds, in my journal.

I have instead, been posting to everyone and trying to help where I can. Thus have neglected my own journal.

Go have a look at other ppl's journals s well, you may learn something.
I do have the gift of gab so bear with me,please.

I do not suggest, you trying, my diet though. It lacked alot of important stuff in it and I ate the same things all the time. Also my calories at times, were way to low.

Hi, Tanika and welcome to the Forum's Journals! You did a great job on that 1st entry, Girl!

Eating without measuring its what got me into trouble and brought me here in the 1st place. You will be amazed at how few flakes equal 1 cup. I found myself packing them down into the cup to get more. 1 cup cereal and 1/2 cup milk really looked puny to me. Still does!

From this moment on, get out that measuring cup; nothing else compares to learning correct portion sizes.

Here's an idea: Decide your biggest weakness when it comes to foods and FAST that food for one week. For me, it's (mmmmm) peanut butter or Nutella and pretzels!! It really helps your body get a kick-start toward control!

Ok, thanks guys!! I will try all of your suggestions. How many calories are too high for one meal, or it doesnt matter just as long as you stay within the calories for the total day?

Did you take a look, at my journal, yet? I would try to aim for 1200 calories a day. Eating up to 6 x's a day around 200 calories a meal. That is why I said check my journal out. You will see, I new my calories for each meal and portion size.

I listed everything including my water intake. Between 2 and 4 liters a day. Like for breakfast 1 cup special k and 1/2 cup of skim milk =150calories plus one banana=105calories total=275 calories.

That was my biggest meal for the day. I would eat every 2 to 3 hours aday. The idea is to try and keep your metabolism reeved up and constantly burning those calories up. It also keeps you, from being so hungry in between meals. Make sure to eat some protein with each meal it will keep you filling full longer.

I'm sure you will get better advice than this but it gives you an idea. Did your dr. put you on a diet plan or tell you how much water to drink or calories to take in for the day ?

Make sure to at least get in 1 to 2 liters water a day, minimum.

Gotta go, c.c.

Yep, I checked out your journal and you did such a great job at writing down EVERYTHING you ate. It really helped me out and now I think I know what to do. The only thing I wanna know is how were you able to eat tuna and crackers everyday??!! Now that's determination girl!! Like I said, I went to the store yesterday and bought snacks for throughout the day; carrots, almonds, oatmeal, whole grain bagels, etc. And I am lucky because my office has our own personal refrigerator so I am able to store those things here at work where I need them the most since I spend more time here than at home. So I am gonna really put forth the effort to eat SOMETHING every 2-3 hrs.

I just copied this info I posted in someone else's journal. Maybe this will help also.

I know, what you mean, about not knowing, what to eat or not to eat. That was and still is my biggest beef.

Have you, looked in the biggening of my journal yet ? I use to put my foods in, on here and logged everything in. It will give you an idea of how I kept track and measured my foods and calories and water intake.

As for my diet it sucked, I would not suggest you trying it, I lacked alot of stuff and my calories somedays were pretty low.

I did aim for 1000 - 1200 a day. Some of my food choices were good, just I did not have enough other things in it. I ate the samething everyday, quite boring.

Not lately been to busy on here trying to help everyone.boy , what a job, that has been.

The few are obvious like you said, Fruits, raw veggies or steamed, skip the cheese, low fat dressing instead. Brown

rice instead of white, Salads with nothing on them, you throw in there fresh mushrumms, bell pepper , and other veggies to

make it more appealing. dressing low fat or fat free dressing on the side. Plain baked potatoe, plain sweet potato, Tuna

fish plain or add some low fat mayo or fat free mayo, Lean meats such as turkey, chicken breast, salmon and fish.

Cottage cheese and blueberries mixed it. Sounds yuck, but it has protein in it and is good for you, tastes pretty good to

me. Egg white or egg beaters instead of the whole egg.
skim milk instead regular, water 2 to 4 liters a day. I usually have 2 liters at the least in a day.

Oatmeal is a good breakfast, plain flavor preferably. The instant ones, with flavors are not as good for you.

Special k with iron is a new one out. Throw in some blueberries, rasberries, or strawberries (berries have very little calories) and your all set.

Cutup a banana an throw it in there ,bannana's are as high as 105cal. Kinda high but great for potasium and if you have in the morning that gives you all day to burn it off.

Also you usually eat your highet calories, the first meal of the day.

Sorry, some of my response were, very sporatic. I guess that is my mood today then, Iam gonna be answering everyone ,
sporadically today.

The dang gift of gab strike again. I'm sure you may get even better answers, than mine. At least I kinda got you started.

I think it is, how much you eat, not so much as, what you eat. Then again that is my opinion. A couple of bites here and there want hurt you anyways. ttyl c.c.
