Hi everyone. This is my first time journaling, and I'm hoping journaling will keep me focused and motivated. I am on day 10 of taking phen and I am down 8lbs. I have been dieting since late 2008 and have lost a total of 33lbs. My highest weight was 313lbs.

The last few days I have been reading everyone's comments and it is real motivating to see so many people doing so well. The support on here is fabulous. It is good to know that we are not alone on our journey of weight loss.

I am having a hard time with lack of energy and motivation to do stuff. I just feel like sleeping. I also am having a hard time with exercising, had knee surgery a few months ago and have no motivation to exercise except for the exercises for my knees. It may also be that I get bored with exercising. Maybe some of you have some suggestions.

Well, I am going to try and move today and at least go for a walk if the rain stays away.

Michelle

Hi, Michelle!! I am so glad that you decided to start a journal....it can be a very helpful tool!! You don't need to feel like you have to log all your foods or anything like that...actually I use mine kind of like my diary, posting the things that are going on in my life, and my feelings, and my goals. Seeing some of this in black and white sometimes makes it more real.

You are doing an awesome job so far....I really do understand about the problems with your knees, though, because that is an issue I have with arthritis in mine. I was having cortisone shots about every 4 months in mine, but decided that weight loss would be a much more effective and safer way to deal with it....and it is working. Exercises that I can do with no pain to my knees are walking, I have a Gazelle that is wonderful because there is NO knee impact whatsoever, and it is pretty fun to use. I also use the Wii EA Active...there are a lot of exercises on there that have nothing to do with your lower body but will still get you moving and your heart rate up. Now that my knees are feeling better, I am also using the Wave which is kind of like a step aerobics. Again, it can be adjusted to meet what I can and can't do on my knees.

I know you have probably heard this before, but I'm going to go ahead and throw it out there again...the more weight you lose, the better you will feel, and the less pain you will feel in your knees. My dr told me that for every 1lb of weight loss, is 4 lbs of pressure off of my knees. I believe it, I really feel a difference. And also, the more you get yourself to move the more energy you will feel. Start your day off with some simple exercise and see if it doesn't make the whole day feel different for you....I bet you will feel more energized all day. Part of it for me is that I am finally taking control of my weight instead of feeling like my weight was controlling me....don't get me wrong, there are days when we all feel like we would rather just stay in bed, but you have a very important chance to reach your goals, so you need to use every moment you can to get there.

You should be very proud of what you have accomplished so far!! And remember that the weight didn't go on overnight, so we can't expect it to come off that fast either.....use this time to adjust your habits and make the changes you are making into a new lifestyle! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement Patty. I feel for you having the arthritis in the knees. I also have that, but I did have a knee replaced in June. It is better than what it was, but I still have pain in it.

Today is a bit better, but still not a lot of energy or motivation. I am going to walk this afternoon, even if it is only for 15 minutes or so. Hopefully this will help motivate me.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well, the day got a bit better. I got a little energy and I did walk for about 20 minutes. I know it is not a lot, but it is a start and considering the knee replacement and arthritis, I feel I did okay. It actually made me a bit more motivated. YEAH!!

Well today was another day of emotions. Need to figure out why I'm crying for no reason. Had a little bit more energy (may have been the vitamins and B complex I'm taking), but had no motivation. This is just not normal for me. I'm usually on the go constantly. The good news of the day was that I did lose another 2lbs. I hope everyone else is losing.

Michelle, it sounds like you are doing a great job with your diet!! Way to go!!

I am sorry that you are still feeling emotional....I hope it gets easier for you soon. Maybe you should call your dr and ask them about it to see what they might recommend you do. Never hurts to ask, anyway! lol!!

Keep up the great work you are doing!!

I too delt w/some emotional situations last weekend...i had rice (been on a no bread, pasta, rice diet from dr.) well the recipe i was making there was no way around it..so i had about 1/2 cup cooked yellow rice (seafood payela) sp? and it helped my spirits ....didn't make me get cravings in fact today i feel like i did on my first week on Phen no appitite at all...

oh and i had lentil soup..so maybe something in upping my carbs helped...
