How Much Weight Is Reduced by Using Phentermine

When speaking of weight loss supplements and regimens, there’s always the before-and-after thing, with special mention of the number of pounds lost within a certain number of weeks. Phentermine is known to be an effective and considerably safe weight loss drug, but only with doctor’s prescription and supervision. And it’s interesting to know just how much weight is reduced by using this drug.

Phentermine works by suppressing or curbing hunger. It releases hormones called catecholamines that cause you to feel hungry less and expend energy more; eventually, you’re going to lose weight. It can’t be fully determined just how much weight you lose with Phentermine or its over-the-counter alternative Phentramin-D. Manufacturers claim expected weight loss to be 15 pounds every 4 weeks, but independent studies showed much humbler results.

At any rate, a study in Korea shows 5 pounds per month average weight loss from using Phentermine. A study in Los Angeles showed a much better result: average monthly weight loss stood at 7 pounds. However, it is to be noted that daily caloric intake maintained by subjects in Korea was 1,500, while that in Los Angeles is 500 to 800. A British study on the other hand showed subjects lost over 3 pounds per month while on 1,000 daily caloric diet.

As with most types of hunger suppressants, Phentramin-D and Phentermine offer the most weight reduction during the first few weeks of use, and then weight reduction plateaus. So don’t be fooled by too-good-to-be-true claims of this many pounds lost within this few weeks. Often, losing only a few pounds each month is better. Remember that losing too many pounds drastically has adverse effects on body functions, and it is one major cause of saggy, flabby skin.

Both weight loss pills are habit-forming, so they’re not recommended for use longer than 12 weeks or 3 months of continued use. It’s important for you to develop healthy habits encompassing good diet and proper exercise while taking Phentermine or Phentramin-D so that after 2 or 3 months of continued use, you can maintain your weight or keep on trimming down as necessary even without the aid of the drug.
