Pills should be combined with protection
Phentermine (generic name for Ionamin, Adipex-P, and the now discontinued Fastin) has been available as the most prescribed weight loss pill since the 1970s. Proven to make one lose weight (as much as 9-16 pounds in a month). It is a prescription drug and should only be taken with a doctor’s prescription.
In the first few days of use, mild side effects include dryness of the mouth, dizziness or blurry vision, sleeplessness, irritability, stomach upset and constipation. One may also experience chest pains, pounding heart, difficult urination, difficult breathing or swelling of tissues.
In extreme cases, the blood pressure of the blood vessels supplying the lungs may increase leading to shortness of breath, dizziness, and fainting. Malfunction of the valves of the heart has been reported in some cases of Phentermine use in combination with other drugs.
Phentramin-D™, on the other hand, is the non-prescription alternative to Phentermine. It makes one lose weight as much as 8-15 pounds a month.
It’s side effects are dryness of the mouth, sleeplessness, irritability or moodiness — still, it is not to be used by women who are pregnant and breast-feeding. Also, those with medical conditions or those taking prescription drugs should not be taking Phentramin-D™.
Phentermine and Phentramin-D™ work similarly by stimulating the central nervous system. This leads to increased heart rate and suppressed appetite. They also give energy boosts to the body.
It is this combination of increased metabolism, lack of appetite and energy boost that makes one lose weight. Fat production is decreased while fat burning is increased without the addition of further calories from extra food.
This combination is also the reason for the sleeplessness. When one lacks sleep, the body becomes stressed and vulnerable to a lot of ailments.
Therefore, never take diet pills without accompanying them with a healthy lifestyle — exercise and healthy food to protect your body. Once you’ve gotten to your desired weight, continued healthy living will keep the unwanted weight from coming back.
Some people feel that to exercise and eat properly while taking diet pills is cheating. But diet pills are there only to fast-track weight loss. One still has to take care of one’s body. In the long run, there are no healthy shortcuts to health.
